I knew Spec. Alejandro Manrique~lozano. He was a great guy.
He joined the army to get US citizenship.

he got it, posthumously.

Thanks 82nd. It's become one of those "forgotten" wars.  When I mention that I was there, a get a lot of blank stares, and or "What war in panama? when did that happen?"

I was 19 then.
Got a PH.
Didn't really want one though.

Thanks for the post.  I had no idea that many men lost their lives in that invasion.  It's thirteen years later -- that's something we all should know, but I've not heard it talked about.  They have not received the respect that is due.

13 years ago, today, our forces invaded the country of Panama to oust the corrupt and evil dictator, Manuel Noriega.

I was in my first year at Bob Jones University (Greenville, SC) when we invaded Panama. Garreth was the son of faculty members at BJU. It was a sad day there when the news came in that he was killed.

If I remember correctly, the Cpl. was the lead man in a room clearing team when he was killed.

May they all rest in peace. God Bless American Warriors.

Thank you all for your service to our country.  Not everyone knows the debt of gratitude we all owe to our servicemen for the blood they have spilled for us.

Again thank you, and I'm sorry for the losses you have endured.

Thank You for having the heart for you comrades....for keeping the faith...and for fighting for the USA...

No matter where we fight as soldiers...the FACT that we have the will to fight...keeps our enemies just that much more fearfull ...and in line...and keeps the USA safe from attack..

I'd like to offer a heartfelt salute to the guys (and gals) who have answered the call of our nation. And a little extra to those who gave in some place that was either quickly forgotten ( where the hell is Grenada?) or weren't "officially" even there( like the Falklands, they don't call him "Sir John" for nothing.)
