When I was young and dumb, age 16, I once accidentally loaded and fired ten rounds of .44mag out of a Uberti 1866 chambered in .45LC at a cowboy shoot. Thank God the ammo was loaded VERY LIGHT.

Who else has stories of this?

Dumbass friend of mine shot some 9mm out a 40SW pistol of mine.

Didn't seem to harm the gun.  But I came to my senses soon after and decided to never own another 40SW gun.

My buddy put his open box of .380 beside my box of 9mm at the range. Shot a whole mag through a P226  with only one or two malfunctions before I realized what happened.

I think I would find friends that aren't dumbass's.
Maybe that is just me though.

When I ran out of 9mm but still had .380, I'd run a few rounds through my Hipoint 995, still functioned.

I chambered a 5.45 in my 5.56 once at a nighttime MG shoot. It didn't fire. I had to drive it out with a cleaning rod.

I thought you could shoot LR in a Mag but not the other way around??

Had an older fellow at the range ask me to check out his gun, something wasn't right.  Looked at an odd looking straight walled piece of brass in his hand.  Took a minute to realize he'd fire a .308 round out of his 30-06.

Should be fine in a revolver. Same difference with shooting 38 special in a 357 mag.

Shot .380 out of a Makarov once. One misfire, but worked otherwise. The brass looked like crap though.

Yep. My buddy handed me his Sako 7mm mag with a round in the chamber. I touched it off and saw stars before feeling a burning sensation on my face. After coming to my senses and working the bolt I looked at the spent case. Dumb MF mixed a 270 winchester in with the 7 mag ammo. Not quite enough stretch in 270 brass to fill a 7mm RM chamber.

Did this.

No misfires but keyholing was noticable at a distance of about 7 yards.

If a Makarov was all I had and .380 was all I could find I would do it in a heartbeat.

I had one 9mm make it into my 40. Fired but I knew something was off. Found a wacky looking piece of 9mm brass and figured it out. No harm but now I'm more aware.

I shot a mag of 9mm through by brothers 226 in 357 sig.  He loaded the mag with his BUG ammo.
Ran fine.  We only noticed because of the bulged cases.

ETA: after reading the thread, seems like the p-226 will eat whatever you feed It.

I had a friend complaining to me about how the barrel on the k98 he inherited was so worn that he couldn't hit the paper at 50yds.

He was shooting 7mm mauser ammo.

a round of .223 found its way into an AK mag.  I knew something was wrong the instant my nephew pulled the trigger. Didn't seem to hurt anything but the brass.

22lr threw 17hmr. Savage 93r17.

Don't know how it got in there especially since I was loading them one at a time, it was quiet, bullet impacted target about a inch off, when I cycled it 22 shell came out. Took a bit of time to clean out the lead in the throat.

Wont try it again and dont suggest it, but no damage to rifle still shoots same as before.

IDPA match, guy would pull his pistol and a 40 would fall out of the barrel. His son was at the match as well and they had mixed up their magazines. He had a 45

It was 7.62 Tokarev

Not really.

.22 LR uses a heeled bullet, WMR does not.

A few years back my brother and I were sighting in our rifles for the upcoming deer season. I was shooting a Rem 700 in .270. He had the same gun in 7mm mag. He fired a 3 shot group, we went to inspect the target.

I said on the way back "my turn now." My brother loaded my gun and set it on the rest (I thought). I took the first shot and it felt funny. Then the bolt had trouble opening. Turns out there were .270 rounds in the 7mm mag.

Had to use a rod to push the bullet out, but no permanent damage. The gun has taken several deer since then.

The one time I saw it done, the .22LR brass was mangled. Smaller case diameter.

Bought a new 625 mountain gun in 45Lc last year, took out a gallon zip lock bag of mix and match 45lc ammo and on about the third cylinder got one hell of a bang and a numb hand. FYI.....do not feed your new 625 a 454 cassul round. Got mixed in somehow and chambered right up, tried some more in cylinder when I got home and every hole will accept the longer round with a 325 grain hard cast.

you say that, but the back story on my .44mag in a .45colt incident was that my Grandpa and I were at a cowboy shoot using the same gun cart and using similar colored plastic ammo boxes.

That plus me talking to people instead of paying attention at the loading table brought about the shenanigans.

Thank God the .44s he was shooting were loaded VERY Light because the toggle link action of the Henry Rifle/ 1866 Yellow boy/ 1873 Winchester are pretty weak

Pretty much what I'm saying is that if you're not paying attention or are shooting with novices and are using different calibers it can very easily happen

Did that once - all was well.

Shot a .243 out of a 30-06 - gun was fine, just the case flared.

I did learn with the .243 mistake to keep things better separated, and have not repeated the mistake.

I tossed a 10mm 1911 magazine into my 45ACP 1911 and slammed the slide shut. The entire round, casing and all, went flying out the barrel. For a split second I thought I fucked up my pistol and didn't know how.

Yeah I know, you're not supposed to have more than one gun out of the case  or multiple caliber a of ammo out at one time.

I worked at a Bass Pro Shop through college & a guy brought in a 7mm that had a piece of 270 brass jammed in the chamber.
