Life is getting really boring, I need to accomplish something. Or a purpose for living.
Anybody have any good, realistic ideas that would not cost a whole lot of money - less than 5,000.

NOTHING ABOUT GUNS!! I need to widen my interests...
Guns - all day every day for the past 10 years gets old, I still love them, but it would make tomorrow feel like yesterday.

Here is what I was thinking:
Go across the US, from NJ to CA on a motorcycle, a cheap used rice burner type.
It wouldn't cost too much, but I think it might be good.

Any ideas?

Stop wacking off so much? Doesn't cost anything, hell you might even save money on porn!

How bout cars? Buy a Mustang and soup it up. Photography? Craft project? Scale models...?

The bike idea would be great! There are lots of clubs and rallys. This time of the year the toy runs are cool.
Have you ever heard of Sturgis? It's like the Knob Creek of bike rallys.
Whatever you do make sure you're having fun and don't piss all your money into something you can't get something in return.

Build a catapault, or a Hemi Roadrunner. Heck, stick 5K in stocks and day trade it. Buy a high end video camera and do a documentry on college girls gone bad. Buy a unimog. etc.

buy and rebuild a Smokey and the Bandit age 2nd gen black Ttop transam. it will go over your 5000 limit most likley.. but it will be worth it. Do not make it a daily driver... airbags are wonderful deviced... as i so recently found out.

I would suggest experimenting with the aesthetic arts, such as painting and drawing. If you really get into it, you can get all sorts of material to work with. You could also practice with musical instruments, or any other art form. Maybe martial arts? [:)]

Now it passes everything but a gas station. Lost the AC condensor + many dollars later... she is a BB 455 cadillac that will make your nose bleed under full throttle [:D] love my old F-bod.

Combine your cross country motorcycle ride with photography and end up with one helluva scrapbook to remember it by.

Or learn to fly. There's several places where you can also go up with an instructor and "dogfight" with someone else (I'm thinking after I graduate and actually start making some money I'm gonna find a good one and take Dad there for a B-Day present)

small world, Ive been trying to find a purpose too. So far I've tried Motorcycle racing, beer brewing, Online Daytrading, PC nerding, 4x4'n,...etc etc. But the damn interweb keeps pulling me back in, like im addicted; my Computer is my CRACK!

I would like to try Auto racing or The GGW docu/porn movie. My problem is, all my hobbies cost too much so they never really lead anywhere.

My suggestion to you is:
Get lost in the woods for a few weeks, with nothing but a knife and matches, Incredible experience that is not going to be available for very much longer. This course of action will also clear your head and give you a perspective of what you really need to do. Indians called this a 'vision quest', and claimed to see their future by doing this.

Your motorcycle trip is a sort of 21st century vision quest, but is full of distracters which at the end of your trip is going to leave you right back where you started. I drove across the country and I would do it again in a heartbeat, the only problem I had with it was although you are surrounded my millions of people on the highways and citys- I felt an overwhelming feeling of loneliness, in the desolate woods you have no choice but to be alone in turn makes it easier to see your path.

Visit the old-timers at your local Veteran's Hospital. Bring crossword puzzles, games, etc.

Learn a little history first hand while helping out.

Some of them just need someone to help them write a letter to their friends or families.

Volunteer. You'll get hooked.

Heck, if that doesn't appeal to you, then find another interest to offer volunteer services to.

Plenty of them out there.

As crazy as it sounds, getting away from "civilization", and understanding that you have nobody to fall back on for your survival other than yourself is an experience that will stay with you forever.

I second the volunteer at a V.A. center. There is a whole universe of knowledge slipping away.

Really want to push yourself - Ride a motorcycle to Washington State then up to Alaska and do a solo summer photo safari. Get prepaid mailers and drop each roll off as you finish it. When you get home there will be all your prints waiting.

There are days you will hate your decision, but keep focus on the finish line. Count each small victory as you move to your goal. When things go wrong, always rejoice that it isn't as bad as it could be, you are alive, now go live life.

Build a small sandrail using a 600-900cc motorcycle engine. It costs less than $5k and can give you the means of exploring terrain less travelled!

This is a project i'm looking into myself, hehe perfect for where I live!

I built one when I was a teenager using a VW. I second that project. It's a blast if you build a street legal one.

Join the Army! What have you done for your country? No matter what you might think of the Gov., you have to admit, that you have had it pretty good. A 2 year hitch in the Army (or even the reserves) not only pays you to shoot machine guns (any maybe even jump out of airplanes), but it forces you to get your shit together. I know that my time in the military has changed my whole out look on life as well as made me appreciate flush toilets and good (100% cotton, 200+ thread count) linen...
