I don't know what to say.

My wife is out of town on business, my son & daughter in-law are out of town on vacation and I'm hurting pretty bad right now.
Mom has been in a nursing home since June and rapidly declining for the past 2 weeks.
I got the call at 11:35 last night and drove on over to the home to take care of things. I got back a couple of hours ago and haven't been able to go back to sleep so here I am.

Sorry for the ramblings but I had to tell somebody.

When I lost my father I cried like a little baby for about 24 hours straight but the pain lasted much longer.  Its going to hurt like hell but you will make it.  You need to go to a friends house as soon as you can, you dont want to be alone.  Take some time off work and just keep yourself surrounded by friends and family.  Im sure everyone here will pray for you and we are all certainly feeling for you.  How long till your wife and kids come home?

My mother has been gone 5 years now and I know what you are feeling.  It does get easier with time, although nary a day will pass that you don't think of her.

My dear friend, I am deeply saddened by this loss you have suffered. I will say a prayer for you and your family, and for your dear Mother.

She has begun a new journey into a new world that we will all make at some appointed time in the future.

All of this life is but a preparation for that final journey, and every new day brings you just another day closer to its commencement.

So be prepared.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope that when the pain and suffering subside, that you will be able to look back on the life that was your Mom's and yours and celebrate it. "Time is a great healer..." I've lost both parents, and it becomes easier to sleep and go back to normal life with some time.  God Bless you and yours.

Osprey 21,

When I was in the Navy, some old sea dog gave me a piece of advice that for some reason really stuck to me.  It has served me well and it goes something like this:  Never do anything that would make you Mother ashamed of you and you'll get along just fine in this world.  That much needed little gem has saved me and the people around me from a lot of trouble believe you me - and I still abide by it.

I lost my Mom two years ago this month after a grueling battle with colon cancer.  Awhile after that I realized that she'd want me to be happy, have fun, and get on with my life - but it takes time my brother, nothing less than time.

Do take care of yourself - and don't be afraid to ask for a little help when you need it.

Ramble all you need to, man.

I lost my mom about 2 years ago. It sucks. You never really get over it. Just hang in there.

I'm really sorry. I know that is no help, but I'll offer it anyway. There's really nothing else to say.

I sure hate to hear about this man, wish there was something I could say or do that would ease your pain. But there isn't. There never is. All I can say is that we are all here for you if you need us....for anything. All we have in life is each other in times like these, and we are here for you.

You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. The pain will never go away completely but you will someday find a way to deal with it. You will make it through this. But hang on to her memories and keep them close to your heart. That way she'll always be right there with you.....until you are rejoined in Heaven.
