OK guys, here is the deal. I just got off the phone with Brian and we have a limited number (100) NIW Colt 30 round preban AR mags with [green]GREEN[/green] followers! They will be available for in store purchase only. First come first served. Initial limit of TWO mags per family... yeah that's right, no using the spouse and kids to buy more, we have to be fair to everybody. After everyone has had a chance to buy a couple we will then allow others to purchase extras if they would like.
Now we are going to charge only $39.95 per mag, that's right, only $39.95 per mag. We paid $38 each plus shipping, so we aren't making squat on these compared to the $49.95 we would charge in store for them. Just another reason to join us on the 25th and 26th of January in Albany. B&J Shooting Supply, your one and only source for your shooting needs. |
|
I would think that ME being there would be reason enough for anyone to come!
[:D] |
|
OoOOOooOHhHHH !!!!!....real COLT mags !!!!!! AND WITH A GREEN FOLLOWER !!!!! [:O]
I think I just may move to NY just so I can pay extra for a genuine colt mag !!! We poor desert rats are only able to buy plain old NIW USGI mags for half that price.....I feel so dirty. |
|
This isn't advertising as they are not for sale at this time. This is an announcement for those planning on attending. Wouldn't raffle tickets belong in the EE since we are selling chances for a rifle?
And yes Colt mags demand a premium. If you can find them NIW with green followers for less please let us know because we would be happy to buy some more. |
|
Oh great, you're selling COLT mags to go along with the M96 I'm picking up in January from B&J's. You guys must think $$$ grows on trees. So much for keeping something besides lint in my wallet![BD]

Is that Maadi still around? That's all I can afford after having to get a new furnace. Heat from our backup coal stove till Saturday. Gerry |
|
Gerry, I'd tell you that it is still around but some folks might accuse me of advertising. The EE is not the forum used to help organize gatherings, the General Discussion forum is. I am announcing a special we are going to run in the shop for those who attend. I think the EE is more appropriate for general sale items. Anyway, if you're not interested kindly move along. Clearly Wave, who is staff and is in charge of making sure the board runs efficiently, has no problem with this posting here.
Once again, if this does not interest you nobody is forcing you to read this post. Have a good evening all. |

Hey Hiram, I think you guys should order some lowers. I personally know that Hoplite is buying a bunch and I need a couple for my family and myself. Between two of us, that'd atleast be 6. I'm sure others would buy also!
How about it? |
|
Guys, just so you know, B & J is a paid advertiser here, and as such can do this. It is a nice attempt to promote a benefit for the Membership, and it does not belong in the EE. If you wish to do the same--no problem--YOU PAY, YOU PLAY. It's a simple concept. [:)]

|
Hiram, sounds like a good in store deal. Have enough mags (or so the wife says [:)]) but seriously interested in another SAR1. Anything further by way of 'in store/Team member' purchasing. Thanks in advance, and can't wait to see everyone again!

The general board gets a lot more eyes, so obviously if you have something to sell (I don't) it would be tempting to advertise here.
I was just wondering if it was allowed, that's all. With all the spam floating around these days, it's refreshing to find a discussion group where no one tries to sell you anything. |
|
Spectre, by all means read what the beekeeper (mod for this forum said), we are a paid advertiser and gathering organizer and I am apprising attendees of a benefit we are offering... just like our $20 transfers for Team members, donation to the AR15.com relief fund for every rifle we sell on the board, calling members to alert them of firearms they might be interested in as they come in on trade and significantly discounting them over the store's floor price...
Once again, you don't like the thread or not interested, don't read it... However, according to the staff and mods, we may post this here. HK, I'm trying to line up a large purchase of SARs to see if we can get the price down a little more... And I will look into AR receivers. |

No matt I was not even referring to you, I was responding to ponyboy's comment about beekeeper and agreeing with him.
Perhaps you feel guilty for attempting to hijack someone else's thread. If not, perhaps you should. As for the price of the mags I saw the invoice. If you know where we can find NIW Colt 30 round preban mags with followers for $30 please let me know. We'll likely buy all that you can find. Not refinished, NEW. If you have a source we are listening. Somehow I suspect you do not and are just spouting off. Please prove me wrong. But this does however raise an interesting question. What are they worth? Worth is a function of supply, demand and perceived value. Why do people pay more for one brand of AR over another when they are on par with each other in terms of quality and performance. Well some people have a particular brand loyalty, some might go for perceived status of one brand over another, some might go with whatever is available at the best price manufacturer be damned. Why do people pay $125 for plastic plum colored AK mags from Russia? They don't function any differently. They buy them because they are a rarity, because they want to be as close to authentic as they can be, because there is a coolness factor, whatever their reason. Last gathering we were asked if we had any Colt mags. At the time we did not, so we looked and this was the best deal we could find on NIW Colt preban 30 round mags with green followers. And yes, when you take product and sell it pretty much at cost forsaking profit that you could earn in the shop in order to provide that benefit to the board members I do think we are doing them a favor. BTW, search through the EE for NIW Colt GI 30 rounders and tell me what they list at. I saw refinished 30 rounders with green followers for $40-$45 and a couple of new ones for around $60. So once again provide this magic source of NIW Colt preban 30 rounders for $30 or kindly end your criticisms, and please make sure whomever is selling them has at least 100 of them available. Saying some guy has four of them for a lower price is not a fair comparisson since we were looking to lay in enough to give everyone who attends the chance to get a couple if they wanted. Nobody is required to buy anything. |

ahhh yes, the golden rule. "he who has the gold makes (and breaks) the rules.

FYI
Advertisers are encouraged to use the regular forums to promote specials and/or sales. I have only asked to keep prices out of them unless it's key to the special. Linking to their forums or the EE (if it's an EE item) is recommended. This post is perfectly fine. As to why Colt Mags are special, these puppies are hard to get a hold of. Saving even $5 is worth it to many of us. Shortly they will go up in value as the government continues to collect and destroy them and they become even harder to find. (Thanks Trans for that info!) It's basically one of those things that appeals to some and to others it does not. [=)] |

www.impactguns.com/store/colt.html But when I see them at shows, they are anywhere between $30 and $35, with $29 at one table the last couple of times I went to the show to drool. Oh, they had green followers too, but that just adds a buck or two to the price from what I have seen. |
