GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - A local legislator is introducing a bill to the Colorado State House that would allow law-abiding gun owners to carry concealed firearms without a permit.

View Quote

The controversial bill is being co-sponsored by State House District 54 Representative Jared Wright just days into the 2014 legislative session.

Colorado is currently an Open Carry State, which means legal gun owning citizens can carry guns on them in public, but they must have a permit to have a hidden firearm on them.

Gun rights advocates said Concealed Handgun Permit laws are just a matter of clothing, and the law acts almost as a tax on citizens.

"I really truly believe it’s more of a revenue generator for government to be able to charge them to practice a constitutional right,” said Wright.

As of now the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department reports there are 8,224 active Concealed Handgun Permits issued by the county.

Has blood been flowing in the streets in AZ, VT, or Alaska lately?  I believe none of those three states require a permit.

It's nice to see, but yeah, Dickenpooper would almost surely veto it.

What's sad is that we can't even get concealed carry struck from UCW here in Texas.

Yet there's a bill here to change that this session.  We'll see where it goes.

If Colorado could dump Denver, Douglas, Jefferson, and Boulder counties that state would pretty much be blood red and IMO one of the coolest places to be.

That area is a serious black hole of liberal shit stains and women with hairy arm pits.

The same could be said for eliminating the population centers of almost any state. Hell, New York would be red if you dumped it's most populated cities and counties.

Just NYC would do it for them.

It won't go too far.  On the related HB 1151 mention, there are enough sponsors in the senate to get it to the gov's desk.  However, it probably won't even make it to the house floor - this year.  It got sent to the "kill committee."  That's probably where this CCW bill will go, too.  All the Rs have to do between now and November is not F-up.  This means shut-up on the "A" word, don't bitch about 64 and promote liberty (I'm not holding my breath).  One R gubernatorial candidate told me yesterday that he plans to avoid social issues.  Good move if he sticks to that plan.

We're also backing it up with SB 14-100 – “Repeal Large-capacity Ammunition Magazine Ban” - currently in the "kill committee".

Hey, if anyone's interested in "constituent communicating" the shit out of the members of said "kill committee", here's a link with bill and contact info.  Feel free to forward to anyone that might be interested.

Most of the Libtards outside of Boulder are of the middle class Prius driving variety, not the Boulder unwashed hobo variety. Still shitstains though.

CCW CHL permits are an infringement.  Shall not be infringed.  Good luck for what it is worth Colorado.

This is the way it should be.  Open/concealed rifle/pistol shouldn't matter or need a permit.  Just carry it in a safe manner.  Our right to bear arms is enumerated in the Constitution.
