She warned us about Obama and his minions she is a prophet. Tax the rich! Income inequality! She wrote about them years before and how this would destroy are nation.
Wesley Mouch would fit in well in the Obama administration.

Overall, she was largely correct in her outlook and I think what we are seeing happening today under Obama is what she warned us about..(the portraying of the "haves", and the contributors to society as evil, selfish and greedy.
When I was younger I read several of her books 2 or 3 times...Glad I did it than because I don't think I have the attention span to read them today.. |

I've concluded that one should not be overly dogmatic because one really should not agree with someone 100% of the time, and really, there's about 5-10% with Rand that I really don't agree with, and based on her whole belief system, I think that's a healthy bit of disagreement. Though, I find her to be a wonderful woman who knew what hard work was, and honored it as best as she could.

Very keen sense of some parts of how reality might work.
While, completely missing what actually happens in the real world. No different than any other philosopher, sometimes it's useful to "look at things that way" but taking it too far is often... well taking it too far. I have one real use that has come from her works; spotting stupid assholes. The people that bring Rand up in casual conversations not talking specifically about Rand are without a doubt, stupid, or assholes, or both in my experience. It's sort of like an early warning system for fuckheads for me.

As it has been said, her writing is very, very verbose and redundant. I don't think I was able to finish Atlas Shrugged. John Galt's famous speech was dull and drawn out way too long. |

This. Rand's dichotomy of productive class vs non-productive class is rehashed Marxism, plain and simple. The productive class for Marx was the 'worthy' proletariat. The non-productive classes were the exploiters (bourgeoisie) and the parasites (lumpenproletariat). Not much different from Ayn Rand. |
