A good chunk of the state of the union is ALWAYS the POTUS taking credit for shit that would have happened anyway. I've lived through enough business cycles to be able to tell you that if they happen to be presiding over an economic recovery, they are going to take credit for it, and if they happen to be presiding over a recession they are either going to talk about something else or blame their predecessor. Others will disagree, but there are better things you could be doing with your time than listening to ANY President's state of the union address.
