Haven't cleaned my last G17 since I bought it like two years ago. Also want to buy a new kit. Must do everything from 9 to 45.

Bore: Otis Kit

They make a bigger kit with brushes for full cleaning which is still very portable.

Boresnakes, copper brush, old toothbrush, Qtips, CLP and old tshirt will cover 90% of weapon cleaning needs.

I've been using an MPro7 kit I snagged on Black Friday from Brownell's a few years ago.

Any kit will do, really. You just need the rod. Buy your Hoppes #9 and whatever oil you want, and get the brushes you need piecemeal. Patches are a luxury, you can tear up an old shirt or your underwear with holes the wife keeps trying to throw out, fer chrissakes.

This ain't rocket surgery.

Find a nice box to put it in and you're GTG.

Check out the Winchester brand pistol kit. The rods and attachments fit inside the handle. It's pretty handy and covers all the major handgun calibers.

I buy kits at a local shop from a company called DAC, I think they run like $7-8, its the epitome of cheap but they work.

Don't Glocks still come with a bore brush? I would think between that and stuff in your house, you have everything you need.

A G17?

Dish soap, old tooth-brush and hot water in the kitchen sink for the frame.

CLP, paper-towels and Q-tips for the slide. Unless you detail-strip the slide, then it can get washed in the kitchen sink with the frame.

CLP and a Bore Snake for the barrel.

Mobil1.

A less manly firearm may not like the kitchen sink part.

This. Once you have a cleaning rod, no need to keep buying new kits. Maybe a brush now and then and some Hoppes.

and call it a day. i rarely ever clean my pistols and if i do i just blast with break cleaner and lube them down. then again i am lazy.

picked up a little screwdriver looking thing at gander I've been using.. the handle holds the rods and bore brush, swab and jag. pretty portable and no cables like otis (haven't been able to get myself into them.. )

ive had brake clean.. chlorinated and non chlorinated affect a few finishes in the past.. nothing drastic or really major but i could tell..

bore scrubber seems to do the same job with less harshness.

The LE Tool Kit? I have it. Great for everything from .223 to 12 gauge. Expensive though.

Hoppes kit, available everywhere. Old toothbrush, wood stick q-tips, etc. Cold beverage, good tunes and BAM good to go.
