If Texas like that they have more money than sense! Who would take an old commercial model and fuck it up like that? The engraving looks like shit anyway.

That is some truly ugly punch dot work.

I won't dignify it by calling it engraving.

I'd give him a tenth of his $6K asking price (maybe), if only for an UGLY shooter with ivory grips.

Oh, that's purdy.  Needs more mother of pearl grips, though.  Saw a red dot that would go real nice on that slide today @ the Safari show.

That caused a flashback to a horrifying experience from my younger days.  A regular and totally legit customer came into the cop shop with a sack that contained 4 engraved Colt 1911's in .38 Super.  They were wrapped in old t-shirts, no presentation cases, and all had visible wear from being carried and shot.  He needed money right now and had a pretty damn low price on them (can't remember now).  It was the Grocery-Sack-O-Guns.

The horror?  I couldn't afford to buy even one of them on my peasant wages.

A Texan sending his gun out of state for engraving?  He's either an idiot or just wanted a quick engraving job.  Probably a little of both.
