About 7 years ago my wife and I were watching a show on collectors items and thought it would be cool to collect something.

Of all things in this world I started with HOT WHEELS... Everytime I would go to the store I would buy doubles of cars... one for me and one for my daughter. She loves them, plays with them. Now she is getting older so she is passing them down to her little sister.

Whenever I would fill up a box I would throw the box in the attic.

HOLY SHIT I have over 1,000 of them!! What the hell was I thinking??? ALL OF THEM UNOPENED.

Wonder if they will be worth bucks one day.

Any of you collect stuff?

Too bad I didn't know about this a year ago, my mother was selling my father's life collection of old ammo. He had a room full of the stuff.

I HEAR you!!!  I collected pretty heavily from 1982 till about 1990 and sold a lot of stuff around 1990 when I was trying to come up with money to buy my first (and so far only) home.  I came up with about $10K for all the unopened boxes and cases and factory sets and such......wish I had dumped more at the time.  I still have a ton of stuff and it's just sitting around for the most part.

I remember selling some 1985 Topps Mark McGwire around the time he was just about to break the home run record and got $100-$125 for ungraded cards.  Now I can get PSA (professionally graded gards) graded 9s for $75 all day.  Back when he was chasing the record those were going for about 10 times that.

Collecting reminds me a lot of the stock market....when it's hot it's hot and when it's not it's not.
