I whipped up a video tonight, how to detail strip a Glock pistol.
12MB, Divx 5 (www.divx.com/divx) http://www.a-10.org/video/glock_22_detail_strip.avi And here's a few outtakes [:D], 1.5MB http://www.a-10.org/video/glock_22_detail_strip_outtakes.avi Enjoy! |
Very well done! Although, you did put it back together a little faster than I can...
Wow, that was great. I never have attempted the full disassembly on my GLOCKs. I will now, with your help. THANKS!
If a picture's worth a thousand words then a video must be worth a million. Very well done. That's professional quality. Thanks Pete!
Just curious if you used cue cards or ad-libbed the whole thing. The outtakes sounded like you were acting without a script, unless you just forgot your lines. [:D] |
Script? Wouldn't I need to be in the UNION to use a script? [;)] The whole thing was ad-libbed, and I had to do shots over quite a bit.
Great video very pro, very cool. Thanks!
I am going to go away now and play with mine. AHH Glock that is! |
And our dog sleeping... [:D]

Nicely done! [beer][beer][beer]
It seemed like I was watching a armory video made by a professional studio if you ask me. Very detailed as well. Too bad I don't own a glock yet. |
DVDtracker,
How come I can't watch this on my computer at home? It says "cannot play video, sutible decompressor could not be found." I can hear the voices on the player but it will not play the video part. Any help would be greatly apprecieated. |
Wipeout, it's encoded with the Divx 5 codec, so you may need to install that. www.divx.com/divx

So all I need to do is download that, and it will do all that stuff automaticly, I don't need to open the file with that Divx program or whatever? If you can't tell i'm not that knowledgable with computers, lol. |
Yeah, you just need to install that. Don't need to use Divx to view it. Installing Divx installs the required codec and then Windows Media Player can view it.
Good hosting you got there, 12.1mb in 53 sec.
We could of used that speed for the gunship video. SSD ps, dam you now I got to get one of those! [;)] |

Ask SNorman, it's his hosting company, www.ihost.biz

View Quote Thanks, works at my house now. I don't think they would have let me bring my Glock into school to strip it, lol. Thanks again. and great job again. |
very nicely done.
only suggestion I might add to make it 'better' is to not have your hand in the way durring some of the steps. keep up the good work [:)] |
Nice job.
Um, I almost hate to bring this up, but shouldn't the pins come out from left to right? The clip shows them being removed from right to left. Or maybe it doesn't matter. |
Good work Pete...actually it was very informative, clean, and to the point.
Are there any more of these types of videos around? Not including the ones on Armalite's website.

Dude!!! You Da Man!! I never have had the "guts" to try to take down my G23 that far before, But I'm gonna now!
Outstanding! Thank you, I now have a much better understanding on the inner workings of my Glock. [beer] The only problem is that I want to tear apart mine right now!! Thanks again.
Does anyone have a video on the 1911 like this one? |

Quoted: Does anyone have a video on the 1911 like this one? View Quote I've detail stripped my 1911 before, but it's far more complicated than the Glock. We'll see if I feel up to doing a video of that one too. I'd need to do it a few more times before I feel comfortable enough to show off. [:D] This is what one of those bad boys looks like... Look what you made me do!!
Thanks again[:D] and more important, I put back together correctly[8D] Mark |

This was great. I wish we could have a place to store stuff like this. Otherwise if you miss it you've lost it. Thanks again.

That was sweet, especially the reassembly! [:)]
The only, very minor criticism is that the "disconnector" is actually the "connector." But since you're showing it on video, who cares? Everyone can see what you're talking about. This is probably better than a "professional" video, and isn't at the snail's pace that most of those are made at. Unfortunately, other pistols aren't nearly as easy to assemble and disassemble, so making other videos won't be as easy. -Troy |

Yes. The pins come out from left to right. They are put back in from right to left. The locking block pin has to come out first, and it has to be put back in first. This is according to a $15 Glock Armorer Manual I bought at a gun show, years ago.
And to think I spent a whole day sitting through an armorers class to learn how to do that. Cool video. Thanks

I don't know what happened but when I tried to download the video, my computer shut down and displayed a message that it needed to protect files and a bunch of warnings with explanations. It would not come back on after two minutes so I had to pull the plug. I am concerned about trying this again. Did anybody else have this happen, and does any one have an idea of what could have gone wrong with the download? I gotta get back to work, maybee I'll try again later. Thanks DVDTracker, and sorry for hijacking, but I wanted to check out your video especially after the great reviews :)

Thanks for the video DVDTracker[^]
I saved it for future use. You could probably sell those takedown videos on the net [;)] |
OK, I just got it to download with no problem. The video is very well made, excllent quality even at full screen. I just had no sound but even without sound it is extremely easy to follow. Thanks to DVDTracker for putting this together.

This thread inspired me to detail strip my new XD 40. Unfortunately, I was too nervous and confused to bother with video taping and/or taking pics. Maybe I'll do it again sometime. After about an hour and a half, I finally got it back together and apparantly working.
