Many moons ago there was an article in Outside or Backpacker magazine IIRC comparing several brands of duct tape for stickyness and toughness.

Does anyone have this article?

If so could you post issue and maybe a summery of results?

Thanks HW

Don't have the article, but have used duct tape on four continents, never sealing ductwork. 3M makes a mighty fine product for general field use.  Holds well, no "stringing" on the edges.  My Ecuadoran Army buds loved it.

I use duct tape off and on on a regular basis.  Some are better than others. Some really suck big time.
One of my favorites is Polyken 251. It has good adhesion and is thin enough to be flexible.

Check out the link and search for brand name "Polyken".  Be prepared though, the list and type of tapes is extensive.

Good God, man!  Be careful!

If somebody responds to this post and spells it "Duck Tape", the whole GD forum will come unglued.

You've been warned!   [rolleyes]

The Nashua 398 is a good cheaper type. They also make a heavier version, but the number escapes me.

Duct tape can be very good or real crap.  I have found that "gaffer's tape" is generally better quality and holds longer.  I'm still using a roll of that which I swiped in mid 80's.  Still holds good.
