I have in laws in rural Mississippi and have on a few occasions packed a long gun in the car, either for a last minute hunt or just in case, either way, I was wondering how many do it routinely?

Underfolder AK under the rear seat of my truck in a block of foam I cut out for it and magazines. That is the minimum plus a handgun. I usually bring more guns if I travel and plan on shooting.

Shotgun usually, sometimes a bolt gun during deer season.    Used to carry a cut down British Enfield for the longest time when I was younger.

I've been pulled over for speeding with this sitting in the passenger seat.  No big deal.

Wife's family has a cabin in Idaho. I always throw an AR in the trunk just in case.

We also have a travel trailer and do a lot of camping year round. I always have at least an AR and handgun or two.

ETA: I always take 2 handguns when I travel across state lines.  The only time I travel with a long gun is when I plan on hunting or going to the cabin.

Any road trip is accompanied by an AR and handguns.  Drove an hour and a half to my brothers for Thanksgiving and my carbine went right along with us.

I regularly kept my underfolder AK in my truck. Then i bought a Jeep, and only had it to and from my home and office. Then I moved to Virginia, and got a job I can't exactly carry a long arm into the office - so it stays at home most of the time, now.

I'd love to find a good, solid mount for the roll bars, but it's not high on my priorities list.

Sub-2000 in a 'Mumbai bag' routinely, real rifle when road tripping.

I also keep a blow out kit in a tear away pouch on the back of the passenger seat headrest.

When I am on a road trip I take a Glock 20. My vehicle has no trunk so I wouldn't want to leave a carbine in it even if I stop for lunch.

Instead of a go-bag I carry a go-truck. I tow a vehicle behind my truck that has guns, ammo, food, water, fuel, cloths, first aid.

I'm afraid of everything and i'm sure everyone is out get me when I drive.

I've kept a No.4 Mk.1* and a cheapo Stevens 350 12ga back there, or sometimes an M1 Rifle, and occasionally an Ishapore 2A.

Generally, this is only if I'm expecting to be a significant distance from home for more than a day or so, though.

I generally prefer the Enfield, M1, or Ishy, because they can go from completely empty (CA requirement ) to fully loaded in a second.

I've been known to take an AR and an 870 on road trips. I've been known to swap the AR for an M-16 when those road trips took me to Memphis, TN.

Absolutely!  If it wasn't loaded and ready to rock, it wouldn't be much more effective than a club.

Although perfectly legal in Northern Virginia I'm not sure that would play well here.

Before 4/1/13 I carried an AR in my trunk.

It's a felony now

So now i store a Rem 1100 with 20" barrel in trunk...

You see... The rem 1100 isn't an assault weapon
