I have a small house (1200 sqft) and wondering which design gives the best output.

Anyone here built one or have any experience?

Thinking about building one, but cant decide.

That's pretty neat, but I don't think WE get enough sunlight for it to work

I hope it's sunnier in IN, it would almost have to be

The cans are empy I take it? Sun heats air.....fan blows heat?

I have two just like your second pic. I had them in windows facing directly south. Set the stat for 110 degrees. It would run on even cloudy days.
I could not tell any difference at all. My wife made me take them down, since it looked too trashy.

Solar is just not viable in southern Ohio.

The sun on the back of my house is very intense here. I had to put up heavy curtans due to the heat from the sun in the summer causing my AC to work harder.

Cans are empty and from what I understand you do not need a fan due to convection. Cool air is pulled into the bottom and the heated air moves up and out of the box.
