View Quote I heard that one of the reasons the Catholic and other churches supported Social Security was they saw it as charity... but as I posted in another thread, taking my wealth by threat of force with whatever intent, be it giving it to the neediest child or not, has nothing to do with the concept of charity as taught by any religion. He is not alone. Our 80% christian nation is a joke. Most church leaders that I know buy into liberal ideas.

The Special Olympics poster message is true, funny, but in very poor taste. It should be reconsidered.

I'm sure your scumfuck thief friend feels just dandy about stealing from a non-Christian like me, and using my money for his faux-charity.

What really strikes me about this is it seems to be a common liberal theme. I read an article that libs tend not to donate to charity because "their taxes take care of it."

View Quote any kind of debate on gay issues or 2A rights or prayer in schools, or abortion. just to name a few. I would guess our nation is at most 10-15% christian. The rest just show up to the Sunday social club meeting.

The historical accuracy snob part of me hates myself for using that smiley, with the horns and shit. Also, the above was a joke. I expect him to die of his own accord when society collapses, and don't need to hunt him down and do anything at all.

A challenger for the title of King Retard appears:
2nd Retard:There are, in fact, pretty decent Libertarian arguments in favor of a Guaranteed Basic Income - that, if it's not quite at the point of economic feasibility yet, we're not too far off - from a world where decentralized manufacturing means that the majority of people in the country won't have any job skills...and may not need them. (The trick is making sure that rent-seekers don't siphon all of that additional productivity into financial derivatives, but that's going from a genteel bare knuckled discussion of political salesmanship to the Dismal Science.) Who knew Libertarians and Communists had so much in common? |

Christian pastors that I know, and respect, are not liberal, far from it. Helping others used to be the role of the church, and those with a mind-set toward helping others. Now helping those in a lower income bracket is more/less forced upon us by political agendas, leaving less for those of us who work, to take care of our own. It takes the joy out of it, its impersonal, and there is no individual decision, many of us now have less ability to help those we would. We would individually help those who truly have need, have plans to take care of themselves if they can, and don't frivolously spend what we sacrificed so we could give to them.
There are big differences between the Christian denominations in this nation if you have not noticed, and some of us are now having a tough time reconciling our beliefs with the state of this nation. |

Once while discussing SSI with my father, I mentioned a particular relative. I noted that I worked full time and he was retired, his income in retirement was more than mine, He had in the bank, cash equal to 23 times my annual gross income, yet every payday the government took money from me to give to him.

United churches or churches that answer to an outside hierarchy are usually liberal oriented. Go find yourself a non-denominational Bible preaching church and you will find some pretty conservative folks |

Religion tends to have more ties to Socialism/communism rather than personal freedom and free thinking.
