Going to Gatlinburg, Tenn for the week and I have never been this time of year, looking for fun and/or interesting things to do. I'm not sure what will be open and available during December. Open to suggestions.

I hear they are generous with the free samples. I'd like to take a tour of the facility also.

Yes they are.it will take you longer to sample the booze than it will to tour the facility. Yea its that small.

They've got a bunch of dinner shows. Go kart places. You could always sit through a timeshare pitch and get some free gift certificates.

Lots of tourists still there this time of year? I almost thought of this as "off" season.

Smokey mMountain Knife Works is a must if you have never been.  As for Gatlinberg it is lit up for Christmas. It's nice to walk around (if you have a lady friend).

Dolly Parton perhaps? Gatlinburg is pretty cool especially this time of year..just check it out..its a tourist trap but fun. I got my dad a nice smoking pipe there and a monogrammed pocket knife as well the last  time we rolled through a few Christmastime's ago.

This time of year I'm not sure what all is open. They have some cool (pun) caves NW of the area. Dolly Parton has a couple of places. Theme park (lame) and dinner/horse show (lamer). The tallest (so they told us) hill in the state. They say the trees in the distance is NC or something? Good way to burn up some calories from the liquids you drank the night before. Knifeworks is cool. I have the pocket knife I bought there 4 years ago in my pocket right now.

I think it's called uber Gatlinburg. I went there this summer, that is a pretty big hill with ski lifts.

Cades Cove - That's the one! Great people, nice place. I don't know the name of the steakhouse, but it's off 441 way south. East side of the road, gated parking lot. They let you park free with your receipt. The food was great and I had to talk the waitress out of coming back to my place. I did not think my wife would approve?
