This Happened to a piece of my brass we found at the end of the class...Our Hypothesis is this. My brass flew forward of the firing line, and on the way to the ground it appears someone shot it in Mid-Air. There were no discharges at the ground so we're nearly 100% sure that it wasn't shot while on the ground.  I know it was my brass due to the black marking mid case (this is how i mark my brass).

What do you think?

It's possible you shot your own brass if you were doing a rapid fire.

Cool!

Did you ask he culprit a compensation for the loss of your brass ?

WOW!  Would think you would know if you had an out of battery detonation, so your idea seems to be the most likely.

Looks like it was shot to me.  Just random timing and number of shooters in line.

You might get one more reload out of that casing, but I wouldn't chance it any more than that.

6 shot strings was most in one command. I'm not good enough to fire so quick the brass would still be in the air

If I knew who it was it would, I'll likely ask the one guy who's balls I know well enough to bust...

It was a rifle shot in high wind. Maybe eight or even ten guys in the world could have made that shot.

It's possible for brass to deflect forward, esp if it pings off the noggin of the operator to your right...

Cool but also looks like you could use a heavier buffer, considering it flew that far forward.

Point well taken G.O., would a heavier buffer have more forward force for feeding? I had a few failure to feeds our of new PMAGs and all it took to get the round in was to drop the mag and the BCG flew right fwd.

he would if it was an H&K

Theoretically, yes. But that sounds like a problem with your bolt catch.

Shenanigans may result when HK rifle shooter is to your left.  Flying targets.

Also an MP5 or HK94 with registered sear will work if shooting trap.
