Debated starting this thread as I am not sure its in good taste being the one year anniversary of SH today, but fuck it.
The Monday after SH I bought an "M4 carbine" marked 6920, and a Colt Socom 2…both at normal prices. Ended up having to sell a guitar and other music equipment to do so though. |
bought an le 6920 the month before.
unloaded a lot of stuff the month after. |
I bought my Microtech STG back in January with a bunch of accessories at a great price. I didn't panic buy it because of all the ban talk though. I had been planning on buying it anyway, and January was just the first time I had the money to do it. If I had had the money before everything happened, I still would have made the purchase.
I also picked up a Sig Sauer P226 MK25 a couple months ago. Again, not a panic buy, something else that I would have bought regardless. |
All I bought was a few threaded barrels for various guns I owned. I had ordered the suppressors about a week before Sandy Hook, and as soon as I saw the death toll I was on the phone ordering the barrels I needed.
The day after Sandy Hook I bought a Colt 6920 for $1049 at Wal Mart. During the height of the panic, I traded it for a 4 digit serial number SP-1 rifle in 98% condition. The Monday after, I bought 200 30 round Pmags. I still have all of them except for a couple I gave to friends.

Not a damn thing.
Once a good panic buy starts I shut down all purchasing. I have no desire to buy a panic build from some manufacturer who sped up the assembly line any way they could. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

People can call it a panic buy now, but it could well have been a sweeping Federal ban, and that 6920 would be "Gold" to you as a gun owner now, because you'd never be able to buy another.
The next time it might be. It pretty much was the end for NY and CT. |

An sgl21, and vepr12, and vepr54r. I refuse to pay any crazy panic prices on goods though.

Built a few AR's, 16", 18", Pistol, and 7.62x39, and then unloaded a few WASR's for quite a profit.

Two Christmas deal boxes from DSG for 30rd black PMAGs and 5 more of the BDM made Lage M-11/22 conversion mags.
Got them for normal prices and ordered them in December 2012 before it got really crazy. |
Springfield Armory M1A, loaded edition.
Bought it 3 months after SH, not as a panic buy, but something I have always wanted. Paid pre-panic level prices too. |
I bought some M&P and CZ75 mags for pre panic prices the day or so after the shooting. I had been thinking about buying them anyway and figured they would become scarce/expensive. I was right.
20 pmags on that holiday special.
They arrived around march I believe. |
Nothing. Not one fucking thing. Let the suckers blown their money, I'll hold on to mine until prices normalize.
one week later I bought a Coast to Coast branded shotgun for $125.00. It's a Mossberg 500, branded for Coast to Coast stores.
Why would you buy anything in those market conditions?
It was a seller's market. |
Nothing.
I have enough firearms, magazines and ammunition having lived through a few shortages already. |
I went home that night , purchased bullets , ammo ,parts kits, bcg, and 15 rd ar and pistol mags ( i live in jersey) later on I got another 1911
Sent in a form 1 for an SBR about a week prior, so I got it back in six months. Not so much anymore.
Did not panic buy anything. I was comfortable enough until the craze died down.
Sucks using your "stash" though |
Several pounds of powder and
several thousand primers. Sold some ammunition at panic prices. |
In the last 365 days I purchased 1 440ct box of .22 just for S&Gs @ $26.99 per box.Just because.Didn't need it just wanted to see what it felt like LOL.
The day after the shooting I bought a Mega arms stripped lower that I was going to buy anyway and I admit that I ordered a RCA bolt from brownells for $250 but that was it other that a few pmags I bought from a friend for cheap.

When I saw how the ladies in my office were talking on the day it happened, I drove to 3 local Wal Marts and cleaned them out in terms of 22lr and 9mm.
I was the only one there, and the clerk's even asked.... (I told them I was spending Christmas bonus dollars). Yes. I started the ammo panic. |

3 lowers and 20 mags that Sunday night for pre panic prices
The panic didn't really set in untill Monday afternoon/ Tuesday. Someone had posted areo lowers at $99 I was going to order a couple in the am but I refreshed the page and the Invantory had dropped by 300. I knew it was doom then. |
Some ammo, but not much.. I have a good stash and work part time in a gun shop, so I buy what I need for target shooting and such.. but I am loaded up on Defensive ammo.
Didn't need mags, or rifles or such.. Been stocking those for years.. but I did buy an Uzi. Friend of mine brought it into the shop to put on consignment.. We made a deal for some extra junk silver I had, and about 1200 bucks in silver later, it was mine :) I had just picked up the silver a few months ago and have more than enough so this was sort of "extra" that I was saving for a rainy day. Been really happy with it.. an IMI Mod A in very good shape, shoots anything I run through it too. Needless to say I stocked up pretty heavily on mags for it. Other then that, not much. |

I had build project underway any how. I was patient & waited for things to simmer down a bit. I did order a nickel boron bolt & carrier from RG & waited about 12 weeks so I could complete a 6x45 build. It was most definitely worth waiting as that rifle is proving to be extremely accurate.
An order I placed with Red X took nearly 6 month but at the price the offer, again worth the wait. I did more selling in the past year than buying. I turned the quantity of guns & uppers into cash and upgraded to quality. One guy who was particularly unrelenting about an Evolution upper I had that I did not want to sell PAID dearly to get it but at least the phone calls stopped.
