Former Texas Rep. Ron Paul says his son, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul (R), “probably will” run for president in 2016.

Paul conceded that the senator is “gonna make up his own mind,” but bluntly said what everyone else has been thinking about the tea party darling’s political aspiriations .

“I think he probably will. I mean, he’s been on TV hinting that he very well might,” Paul said on CNN.

“I kiddingly say that advice I give him is he better be very careful. He’s doing well, he might get elected, and that’s a great burden and a major responsibility,” Paul said. “But I think he’s handling himself quite well.”

Rand Paul has been hinting at his intentions to run for weeks.

We don't need another Senator running for president.   We need someone with actual governing experience not law making experience.

Rand is the only Republican I can see myself voting for in 2016.

The Washington Post commies will destroy him because he discussed the plot of "Gattaca" in a speech.

While I think you're right, we don't have the luxury of being too picky about our candidates.  Rand Paul is a solid choice for president that the vast majority of us can agree on and is the least likely to screw us over on the important issues.

I will never vote Republican again because they are nothing more than Democrat Light and being the lesser of two evils is simply not enough to get my vote.

If there are any exceptions to that rule it will be either Rand Paul or Ted Cruz but it remains to be seen how much they are willing to compromise on their Conservative principles.   We will see as time goes on.

i don't like social crusaders. rand paul is a social crusader. (yes, paulbots, he is, you're just too enamored to see him for what he is.)

Wow.

I was never a huge fan of Ron Paul, but I often defended him when people were bashing him.

The whole lesser evil schtik applies to libertarians as well, people defend the guy that they feel best represents their views or who would be the best of the available options.

Rand is a much better candidate. His social conservatism is going to be a liability, but I don't think anyone with broader appeal outside the conservative base can bring the base along, much less win the GOP nomination.

Does anyone think Rand can pull the nose up on the country? I can hope, but logic tells me a politician is just a politician. In my mind the slow slide into 3rd world status will be nearly impossible to stop.

He'd be as good as anyone.

I mean look....Ron Paul is freaking fruit loops.....BUT.......still loads better than our current POTUS, and also you gotta look, he would have to fight Democrats and established Republicans anyway.....his looniest stuff wouldn't standa  chance anyway.

rand's outbursts of what he really thinks are certainly more controlled than daddy's. is that a good thing?

do we want a candidate beholden to his father's leftover rabble? maybe rand will appoint alex jones as minister of media to appease them...

Our likely choices will be:

Christie
JEB Bush
Rand
Cruz
and I though I read an article about Nikki Hailey (SC Gov) was thinking about running.

Im not voting for Christie or JEB. Ill waste my vote on the Constitution Party's candidate. I will not vote for the libertarian candidate either because of the stunt they pulled in VA's gov race. That really soured me on the L party.

A Conservative President and a Progressive Congress = Progressive government.

Unless we get rid of most of those turkeys in Congress the most a Conservative President is going to do is slightly reduce the growth of the Federal government.

that fat shit Christie is going to use his time in the spotlight after Hurricane Sandy to his advantage.

if he wins the nomination, half the site would spewing "he's not after our guns", "we can trust him" and "he's better than a Democrat".

sadly the third statement has a little bit of truth to it.
