So I'm at my usual bar and I hear the heat is busted.  These geniuses decided to put an open flame propane heater.

Fire code aside, these employees will be here until 4am.

Am I being a little bitch, or is this the most absurd, unsafe thing they could have thought up?

Hell we've heated the shop with a metal bucket and old rags

Less chance of CO poisoning than putting it inside a closed residence.

A bar will get plenty of fresh air flow, as patrons arrive and leave.

Now, drunks stumbling over it? Yeh, that could be a problem...

My main concern would be carbon monoxide poisoning without proper ventilation. The flame, not so much.

You overestimate the foot traffic coming in and out of a dive bar with no heat.

Hog barn heater in the shop is pretty normal around here.
As noted, the emissions from the thing are no real concern.

They have a safety valve that shuts them off when tipped over..or rather the good ones do.

The problem is, they get damn hot. Hot enough to start clothing on fire and cause nasty skin burns of they are touched.
What are the odds that drunks wont dick with it? 1-87,000,000,000,000,000,000

I hope the owner has a good lawyer on retainer.

I figured the owner had no idea about it.  The fines alone from local authorities are probably staggering.

Now the bartender is dropping N-bombs because... Ummm...  new customers walked in.

The South is fascinating.  I should have made that minor in Anthropology into a major.

Employees are all dead from CO poisoning by now probably.
