How gun control is losing, badly (in charts)

An impressive (roughly) 1,500 state gun bills have been introduced in the year since the Newtown massacre and, of those, 109 are now law, according to The New York Times. Seventy of the enacted laws loosen gun restrictions, while just 39 tighten them. And, though largely symbolic, some 136 bills nullifying federal gun regulations were sponsored in 40 states. In Colorado, two pro-gun control lawmakers were booted from office in historic recalls and a third stepped down in anticipation of a similar fight.

They are not losing until we no longer hear about it and still have our God given rights.

They only have to win occasionally. We have to win all the time.

And, we aren't winning. Not in the long run, and not by a long shot.

We won't be even be back in the game until we get the ball across the 50 yard line, and that means repealing every anti gun measure back to and including the 1934 bill nationally, and in some states, you'll need to go back to pre Civil War.

We are at least running a decent ball control offense now and getting some first downs.

We're in a stage of the game right now where we're pushing them back by getting a couple of first downs, then having to punt away, but making them go 3 and out. It's a yardage match.

People don't trust Obama and that is keeping some of the Anti-Gun agenda at bay.

It's going to boil down to being a state by state issue.

We've already seen it and seen why even here on Arfcom.

People from Texas say fuck NY and fuck Kommifornia. Which, I don't agree with - but they will barely lift a mouse click to help another state fight for it's rights.

There are way too many D's from mid-west//west pro-gun states that know they will get tossed if they go anti-gun - Colorado put that into writing. The only thing the feds can/will do is make it more difficult for items they can control - NFA items.

The only way people will become pro-gun is if they're around guns. Which is why gun states will stay gun states and anti-gun states will stay anti-gun states. Sure, you'll get the handful people from california or where ever, but it will never spread enough to be a majority again.

Where as an example of Ohio, we're repealing more and more anti-gun laws. We're having record people interested in CCW permits / receiving those permits. Anti-gun people are getting tossed - Mahoning just tossed last election someone who waited till the last possible day to sign CCW permits. Now the new sheriff, Greene, is getting them turned around in 3 days to a week and has no problems with NFA sign offs.  Hopefully next year we'll get rid of the 31 round cap.  Not a big deal, really, but it's symbolic.


The best thing we can all do, as a community, is come together and help the states that are in danger of falling to anti-gunners. Colorado is going to be a bastion.  Anti-2A struck first.  We struck back. Now we have to finish the job, get rid of the governor in the next election cycle. Get rid of the Anti-2A state senators  and repeal the bullshit laws.  We have to challenge the laws on the federal level - which, we all know will take forever to do, but we still have to because that will be the only long term protection we have. And finally, we have to get someone pro-gun into the WH.

We survived the nightmare of the '60s and '70s, which was the era most subject to big .gov, and therefore most vulnerable to a virtual shutdown of the 2nd.  Not talking about the Hughes Amd, but rather public perception and acceptance of gun control.  Remember that the VPC is the new name of the original 'Handgun Control Inc.', that had some pull back in the day.  That name today would make them a pariah.  Much to the chagrin of the elitists, millions of people LIKE GUNS!  Black people, Asian people, Americanized Indians, and even suburban women are today joining the fun.  



Even if some folks don't want a Sig 550 in every household, they still are generally agreeable to the concept of some type of arm in the household.  Quite a change from the post industrial past.

You want to see what an all-Dem legislature looks like on the 2A, look at California.  Most well-funded state RKBA in that list just to keep from sliding into the abyss.
