I like using beads in my humidor.

I use the bead type that you recharge by plugging them in over night. They have an indicator that shows when they need recharging. Usually have to every 2-3 months depending on time of year.
Not a fan of the plug in rods. Just dont like the idea of putting a potential fire hazard inside of the expensive box I bought to protect my things.

This is true but don't the beads give and take humidity ?

I don't have a big problem with humidity, so I just run a Goldenrod to keep the air circulated.

I also have several sacks of silica gel, which are overdue to be dried out.

I use a goldenrod and one of those dehumidification devices that absorb moisture and then plug in to discharge what was absorbed. Also have a dehumidifier running in the same room 24/7.

Only if your safe interior gets over 200F...

I know its not popular these days, but I use a tried-and-true dehumidifier: Oil

I have never used absorbent material, etc, because I don't see the need. A fire-rated safe is airtight and there is not enough moisture in that small volume to cause problems.

This worries me as well, but I opt for electric hoping it doesn't happen.

Keep an eye on that. I had some silica gel in a plastic container in my gun vault and it overflowed, ruining the finish on my Model 27.

eta I now use a Goldenrod or similar heater.
