LOL at all the "Jap" labels. Imagine seeing those labels in a museum display case.

Who was the soldier that brought the stuff back? Are there clues to his identity to provide some kind of provenance for the items?
|

cool stuff. if it was my stuff, i would see if there is anyway to find the people or relatives of them that are in the photos, and give them back.
|

Nice!
Imagine how much of stuff like that has been thrown away over the years as the WWII vets die off and clueless family tosses it.

That's really cool.
Apparently the Japanese used to wrap themselves with a Rising Sun flag under their uniforms. I know a guy who has one of those - complete with bullet holes and dried blood.

I have the same pair of sandals my grandfather gave me.
He served in Burma. |

If you could say it was Sergeant John Doe that took these items and wrote the labels, it adds historic value to the collection. |

I have two authenticated Meiji-period yukatas I bought at a yard sale. The lady said her grandpa "brought those robes back from Japan". Dollar each. |

I'll bet you can find a place in Japan that takes WWII photos and posts them up to find their owners.

If you don't collect that type of thing, I bet the WWII museum in New Orleans would display all of that.
Cool find. Preserve it well! |

What would you think if a modern day Japanese or German citizen found you and gave your family pictures of relatives during WWII? I can't imagine receiving a gift like that…priceless. No doubt it would be difficult, but I bet it's easier than one might think... |

Is this going to turn into a "If the Army had P-mags in 1943" thread?
Very cool thread. |

cool. share/donate to a reputable museum..lots of history there, it could be a connection a family member could be looking for.
