Apparently it's based on a Japanese sci-fi novel - so that could make it awesome, or super-weird and especially bizarre at the end.

View Quote This wouldn't by chance be based on a H Beam Piper short story would it? |

Looks like it would be much better without the douche in it.

But I do agree with you. It's got to be a dilemma for a studio, because if they get a better but unknown actor, they won't get the "guaranteed" draw of a major star. The financial calculations involved for major studios must be fascinating. |

View Quote Nevermind, I thought it might be Piper, but I was confusing the title with the Edge of the Knife, or something like that. there's a short story where a guy gets killed in WWIII and then wakes up in his 13 year old body, and tries to stop the future war. |

Too far in the future . . . by June I will forget and miss it in the theaters.

Looks like they tried to remake the Matrix and Source Code at the same time.

Looks good. I'll be seeing it in the theatre for sure.
Tom Cruise is a good actor. His personal life might be different than some but I don't see someone's movies because of their personal life. |

View Quote Dang, you're right. That's the exact same damn movie. |

Read "All You Need Is Kill" a few months before this was announced. The project originally shared the name and characters with the book, but halfway through development they took things in a different direction, changed title, changed names & characters, etc. It'll probably turn out to be 'Starship Troopers'-level bad due to executive meddling.
But hey, who cares if the story is shit, right? Just add a few extra million to the special effects budget and no one will notice. |

Ummmm....YES! I'm in.
Politics and weirdo shit aside I have been a Tom Cruise fan from way back. "Taps" anyone? |
|
Say what you want about Tom Cruise, but he generally makes a good sci-fi flick.
|

Some Emily Blunt hotness and all you homos can focus on is your closet homo buddy?
Sheesh!! |
|
Cruise is a squirrel but he's a hard working squirrel who has been generally choosing okay movies lately.

Or, perhaps they made the story even better. No way to know at this point. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

However, remember that the novel this is based on is (a) short, and (b) written for teenagers, not adults. So some adaptation may not be a bad thing per se. |
