This strange image appeared in the condensation on the outside of the wife's car yesterday morning.  It looks like something has been pressed against the window at some point very recently as I wash the car and clean the windows every few days.  Any idea as to what would cause this?  My radar went off as maybe some sort of attempt at a break in.
We live in Houston.  Wife saw some guy loitering in the parking lot at the YMCA as she went in the night before.  It was cold and raining and she was suspicious he was up to something.

What is the diameter of the circle?

To me it looks as if a glass suction handle was applied and used to attempt to force the window down.

But i'm just guessing.

If it's a brand new car, it could be from the assembly line.

I have two of these on the rear window of the f150 I bought new last year.  It's from the assembly line.  No matter how much I scrub, wipe, etc inside or out it shows up when the windows get foggy.  You'd never know the window wasn't perfectly clean the rest of the time.

This is what I'm thinking. thieves will pull the glass away from the door frame (or the door away from the car body) on models that permit doing so, and fish for the door handle or lock knob through the crack.

Suction cup attached to robotic arm that picked up glass and stacked it when it was made. Glass was still hot so it leaves microscopic imprints.

I saw the same thing on my newish Tacoma window. Artifact from when they  installed the window. Do a good window cleaning in and out.

Fuckin' lampreys.

They get bold in the winter.

Edit: I see I was beaten.

On the serious tip, could you use a suction cup to pull the window out far enough to make it easier to get your hanger in there to unlock the door? Seems like the print would be higher on the window, though.

Agree.  Someone wanted to pull the window out so as to slip in a door opener.  Had a locksmith do that to my rental once.

Kinematics fail though, why do it in the center of the window instead of the top where you have leverage?

That's it. And if that thief keeps at it long enough he'll figure out where to put it on the window.

They pry it open just far enough to slip a straightened coat hanger in to hit the button to unlock the doors.
