I mean, honestly, who would put this level of effort into the stock of an SKS?  It doesn't even look good.

Here's his description: "A pimped SKS That takes ak 47 cpils $650.00"

Well, it isn't a stock stock, it is something he made.  It looks like craft and talent, I see why some in GD would have a conniption.

I actually like that. Very well done. Wood man has plenty of time on his hands.

The real question is, why is he selling it now? I have a dumb idea sitting in my safe that I use more than any other tool in there.

All the thumbhole stocks I can find images for look like this:

I really think that's custom, but of course the chinese could've sent anything.

Or something to do in general?

I think it's fuckin' sweet... but a bit outta place on an SKS.

Maybe if you got one of them Chromed SKSs and dropped it in there...

I've been wanting a SKS that takes AK mags... locally that would be a good price.

I was at a range many years ago where someone showed up with one of the Chinese 'parade' rifles, and it has to be one of the best 'bling' guns out there.  Pretty cool, and I'd be more than happy to have one in my collection.

Meh back I the  90s a friend of mine that worked at a cabinetry shop make a copy of a ATI monte carlo SKS stock out of AA walnut

He used to take the rifle  to gun shows just to troll for responses

Not for me, but it took more skill than coating it with glue and dragging it through a Tapco catalog. One of our members made a very nice stock for his SKS a couple years ago, lots of work and turned out great.

You could make it into a:

- Universal M1 Carbine

- Sig Mosquito

- Century .308 converted MAS 36 or 49/56

- Century Tantal

- Jennings whatever

- CZ52

-...

People tend to forget that SKS rifles are contemporaries of the Garand, not the SCAR.  They are quite good at what they were designed to do, even if a bit homely.

That's fucking awesome.
Also probably turns a $69 gun into a $469 gun too, right?

eta: $295 for the kit, I was damn close. Too bad SKSs aren't $69 anymore.

I'm not paying $5/6/700 for an SKS even if it does look badass.

I presume that you are talking about the 59/66s and not the M59s...

It took me forever to find a great M59, since most were heavily worn/abused.  The only significant damage/wear on this one is the scratch on the wood above the front of the trigger guard.
