Great band. That was a heady time to live in Minneapolis.

It was also a great time to live in Columbus, OH which was surprisingly excellent for bands because they all played there.
After I moved back there from the Left Coast in '85 I used to hang at a small club north of the OSU campus called Staches which was torn down in '97. Shit, it's probably a Starbucks or a Chipotle now.
This place probably had a max. capacity of 150 persons and I saw all kinds of bands there: Descendents, fIREHOSE, Soul Asylum, Die Kruezen, Big Dipper, Dead Milkmen, Celibate Rifles, Butthole Surfers, Volcano Suns, and a shit ton of local bands. Nirvana played there before they hit big.
Closer to the campus area was the Newport Music Hall (formerly the Columbus Agora): Husker Du, Ramones, Jesus and Mary Chain, more Butthole Surfers, Replacements, and even Cheap Trick on a 1988 tour.
Good times.
