Check - we were taught to make sure the trunk was closed (Army MP), but leaving your prints in case something goes bad is also a good idea.

The other thing I thought of was that on a noisy road, you could tell if the engine was still running by touching the car. I think that would be something to make a leo a little more cautious, if the car was ready to go.

We also started walking up on the passenger's side, knowing if they were going to ambush the cop, they're waiting for the cop to walk up to the driver's door. You can see just as much, sometimes, more, looking in the passenger side, and there's less risk of getting hit by a passing car.
