does anyone remember the Richardson Boot Pistol that everyone had for around $50 a couple years ago?
it was a .36 sidelock screw barrel PB pistol.
I wanted to pick one up at the time but never got around to it.
are they still around?

I bought one a few years ago for 60 bucks.  Other than being kind of cool looking I wish I didn't.  Mine does not fire worth a damn, the hammer doesn't fall straight and it has a few other issues.  As to finding them, at this point I think your best bet is too look at gunbroker, armslist, stuff like that or put up a wtb ad in the ee.

well I've been wanting a little BP deringer type pistol of some sort, but I don't have the skill for a kit and I don't want to spend $400+ on some of the options on the market.  I wish there were more affordable options out there

You'd be better off with a Pedersoli screw barrel derringer. The finished gun is $210 at Dixie Gun Works. DGW is also selling the kit now for $150.
