FSA in the making!!

A buddy with rentals told me this morning one of his renters, a young couple discovered she is pregnant! They told him they have worked hard since they were 16 and have lots of $$ in the bank. They want to pre pay him some months of rent so they can reduce their bank account so they will be eligible for gov assistance for her & baby!! Cannot have more than $1200 in account and rec. assistance!!

As someone who is setting up his first rental property this week, its stories like these that scare the piss out of me. If he can legally evict he should. Nothing good will come from FSA living on his property.

He didn't say otherwise so I assume he is letting them stay. It is too hard to get anyone to pay on time in Arkansas. He has 4 rentals. Hard to keep them full AND pay anywhere on time. Usually they running from law, druggies or cookers. Lucky to get any money.

My take has always been make everyone sign a 6 month lease. Lay out rules...no pets, no smoking. You trash it you buy it! Violate anything you gone!! But I'm not a renter.

As long as they have to get stared at in the checkout lane for spending food stamps,

As long as they have to wait behind us insured folks at the doctors office,

As long as they're willing to receive the shittiest healthcare in America,

As long as they have to go deal with DFS every couple weeks or once every month,

And, as long as they're working to improve their life, I'd be OK with it.

But in reality, that's not how it is nowadays.

Tell him they are too stupid to keep as renters if they can't figure out that simply withdrawing the money will give the same result.

On the other hand, the landlord will be able to get a "few" months rent in the bank before they try to convert the place to section 8 for him, or simply stop paying rent forever.
