More than they used to be, probably not too bad these days.

Right now I'm seeing small pistol and rifle at about 32/box. Large primers at about 42. Match quality about 2-5 buck premium.

I just bought a case of 5k small pistol primers for 28/box. Reloading is very much about buying in bulk.

You got fucked. I'll help you cut your losses and give you $20 for them.

I haven't purchase primers in years so it might be the going price

If you can, purchase as a 5k container

I pay $30/1000 CCI small rifle or pistol primers, but thats a super great price from a local FUDD shop who has not increased his prices for 2 years.

A normal local dealer sells them all day long for 40/1000
You did fine.

I've been selling them for $35 a brick.  If you buy a whole sleeve, even if you mix and match to get you to 5 bricks, I'll go $150, or $30 a brick.

This is for Winchesters, face to face in the St. Louis metro area.

But not to turn this into an EE thread.

$32-$36 plus tax seems to be the rate locally at Scheels for what I've been buying.

$6/k over the going rate for primers  is no big deal when you are looking at 1k rounds of loaded ammo unless you are a manufacturer.

Brand? that is about 6 bucks more than I can get Winchester or CCI down the street and 12 bucks more than wolf/tula a few more miles down the road. OK, but nothing to brag about.

Yea local at the sporting goods store, I have enough components to knock out 500rd of .45 so either way it's a win

I can remember when primers were $8.95 for 1K.

And lead was FREE, if you had a friend who was a plumber or who worked in the newspaper press room.

In the grand scheme of things, you have them. You could have run all over town shopping and maybe saved $6. Not freaking worth it. Spend $10 in gas to save $5. You could have said "$40? Too much" and gone home empty handed. $10 in gas to neither save not spend. Kick yourself if you spend $100 too much on something. A small ticket item isn't worth fretting, unless you're buying a lot of them.

I spent $200 on 8 lbs of Varget the day after I bought some from Walmart for $28/lb. This week is the first time I've seen Varget in stores since Dec. 2012. I've got plenty for now.

Depends on the Sporting Goods manager, my local one does not but there are several stores Beckley, Elkins and Fairmont that I know sell reloading equipment.

Just bought 2k CCI 450's for $75.

So I'll be up to 5k of those primers, about 1k empty brass, 1k bullets, and no powder and almost no reloading equipment.

WTF am I thinking?

Build yourself a magazine!  They're not difficult to build.  Grandpa used to have one for black powder.  He'd buy Goex a hundred pounds at a time for anvil shooting.
