http://blog.seattlepi.com/seattlepolitics/2013/10/24/gun-free-zones-more-than-100-seattle-businesses-sign-up/

The program, in which businesses sign up voluntarily, came after the city was frustrated (during the administration of Mayor Greg Nickels) in an effort to pass an ordinance declaring parks to be gun free zones. The courts told Seattle that state law preempts cities from enacting such ordinances.

I'm trying to remember the last time I actually went to Seattle... and I can't remember, it's been so long. I don't see that changing any time soon.

I got two words for them and it doesn't "change the conversation" in a positive way.

And 100 businesses that made the conscious decision to alienate what are typically well funded, law abiding patrons and a larger percentage of customers than they realize..

Sounds like a solid business plan.

I pay no mind to such vulgar displays of unconstitutional stupidity and foolishness . . . . except when I have a more reasonable option on where I can spend my $$$

I really, REALLY want there to be a crime wave centered on those businesses. I want it to be spectacular and very costly.

Hey Mcginn, do those signs have the force of law in Washington? What's that- they don't mean shit and you're all happy that there's 100 of them?

Hell, a lot the businesses on that list are establishments classified by the state liquor control board as off limits to persons under 21 years of age, so any legal carriage of firearms was prohibited under RCW 9.41.300(1)(d).

... not that that has ever stopped anyone who doesn't care about signs anymore than they don't care about actual laws: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=seattle+bar+shooting

How surprising! Not one jewelry store, rare coin dealer, or bank has joined the list of idiots? Why would that be?!

Hahaha! My guns and I literally live a matter of FEET away from Spuds fish and chips, and have/will be carrying in their restaurant.

I'd boycott them if their fish wasn't so damn tasty.

Many of the places on that list are bars. That is no loss because if I am in a bar, I am drinking and hence would not be carrying in the first place.

Many of the other places are coffee shops. I do not drink coffee, so again, no loss

I noticed a few yoga studios in the list too. No loss as I am not a chick and not pervy enough to go to a yoga studio to ogle them.

Plenty of bike shops too. No loss since I am not a spandex wearing, hipster homo.

I'd really like to see the statistics on that! They're pretty much rolling out the welcome mat and saying "rob us, you won't be shot".

That's a nice part about MO's CCW law. You don't have to worry about the vulgar unconstitutional signs. Concealed means concealed.

This should be the official nationwide no guns sign. I think once these businesses got them in the mail, they would probably think twice about wanting them in the window.
