My mind was blown when I was working the finish line at a marathon once and saw several early finishers head to the beer tent and chug one down.  Michalob ultra was even a sponsor, and this was on fort benning.

Probably a couple shots of Jameson's too.  Helps level out the LDLs.

I know. Although, I have heard of soccer players in europe drinking alcohol free stouts during half time to boost up carb intake for more energy, but never as a recovery drink.

Beer after a workout is the best time for a beer. Then have another in the shower.

The study I saw said that chocolate milk was better for muscle recovery because of its protein/carb ratio.  Does beer even have protein?

No, it has alcohol, which diminishes protein synthesis.

Beer has miniscule amounts of incomplete protein and not only that, but alcohol negatively affects protein synthesis. The only thing "good" about beer after a strenuous work out would be the carbs, but there are better sources.
