Yup.
Physical media shipping went up a buck a couple months back too, which was my thing. It never costs 4 bucks to mail a CD or a DVD in a padded envelope!
And now that they're gonna build something in FL, I'm gonna have to pay sales tax too.

New movies, sure; books that aren't by "popular" authors or older movies, not a chance in hell. What really sucks is when I wanted to order something today and it was $34.98 !!!! .......so I kept shopping and found another for $34.99 !!!!
That got me really pissed that I was going to pay $10.00 shipping over a stinking penny or two.....so I didn't buy it. Amazon should have taken that into consideration and made $34.95 as the mimimum. |

Another vote for Prime.
We needed another air conditioner last year in the middle of a drought. I tried to hold out, so the local stores were all barren by the time I caved. Prime over-nighted a 15,000BTU air conditioner to my front door for $4, and I didn't pay sales tax! Sudden need for a medical device. Ordered it on Fri at 18:00. Order processed in TN. Delivered to my front door, in WI, before noon, on Sat, for $9 shipping, no tax. With user uploaded pictures, reviews, the ability to ask reviewers questions, broad selection, an easy return policy, no tax, and subscription shipping Amazon gets a lot of our business. The streaming content is a bonus on top of an already good deal. If they started charging tax, or jacked up the cost of a Prime membership, we'd stop shopping with them and revert to being more frugal. |
