the palestinians controlled the land from around 70AD to 1948. why didn't they destroy the church of the nativity in bethlehem and all the other christian and jewish holy sites in the holy land. I just can't follow your logic, you think like anti-gunners, no logic just emotion.

NOt to go off topic: Hmm, when Jordan controlled East Jerusalem, they desecrated Jewish holy places. King Hussein permitted the construction of a road to the Intercontinental Hotel across the Mount of Olives cemetery. Hundreds of Jewish graves were destroyed by a highway that could have easily been built elsewhere. The gravestones, honoring the memory of rabbis and sages, were used by the engineer corps of the Jordanian Arab Legion as pavement and latrines in army camps (inscriptions on the stones were still visible when Israel liberated the city).
The ancient Jewish Quarter of the Old City was ravaged, 58 Jerusalem synagogues — some centuries old — were destroyed or ruined, others were turned into stables and chicken coops. Slum dwellings were built abutting the Western Wall.
Also, the palestinians controlled the land. That whole Ottman Empire, British Empire, the Crusades (among others) must have just been by imagination.
On topic, it is interesting that the attack occurred in Hebron, which was part of the 'Judea first' initiative started by the former defense minister where the PA authorities were suppose to keep the peace. However, it is not a suprise, because this has been the pattern that after the IDF leaves an area, an attack is launched from that area, the IDF reenters, and the palestinians and their supports cry that that the IDF entered Area A territory.
