Slowed down , like they are showing in the Black Hills video , it's obviously capable of spewing out match level ammo .

It's sick how much ammo you could produce .....it's intoxicating .

Is that a Camdex loader? It looks like one. My father had one but after he died, my pot-head half-brother stole it and all of dad's brass and sold it for scrap metal!  One reason that I HATE potheads!

Watch the Black Hills video and see how much slower they are going . Not drastically different , but noticeably so .

I am a die designer(machinist, SW Pro, programmer)  and I have a homebrew version of those on the drawing board right now.  They are simple in concept, the large parts are essentially the same as a stamping tool. My concept uses cams to drive everything including the brass handling mechanism from one station to the next.  I saw these for the first time several years ago I and it looked so similar to what I build for a living that I started working on a design.  Unfortunately, the paying jobs and kids have kept me busy but I still spend an hour here and there on it.

All the accessories would probably be COTS stuff. No sense in reinventing the whole car....

For the serious reloader I might be able to get one built for 5K or so.  Station spacing doesn't change within a reasonable range of calibers so I was thinking quick change interchangeable top plates to go from caliber to caliber. All height adjustment would need to be in dies in the top plate.

I WILL have one someday, even if I have to make it my damn self.  You can automate a Dillon cheaper than anyone could make one of these, so you would need to be VERY serious about making ammo.

I don't need something that quick.  My Lock N Load can produce ammo faster than I can afford components

For someone who is not a manufacturer, what would be the downside of just going the "automated Dillon" route?  Does that produce good ammo?

From what I have seen of the automated dillons they aren't anywhere near as fast and require much more attention during operation, because they were never intended for automatic operation. But for the typical range monkey( like me)  they would produce more than enough ammo. The quality of the ammo in any of these machines is based on setup and component quality as much as the machine.

The camdex and ammo load machines are commercial grade equipment, and priced accordingly.  I want to build one because they are very similar to the tools i design and build for a living, I could probably put one together from leftovers in my shop.  I'm just a manufacturing nerd, so I might as well manufacture something I can use.

I used to have a manager who shot competitively at a national level for about 10 years.  He told me that he looked into buying one of those, but, "you could mess up a whole lot of components in a hurry on one."  He decided to stay with several Dillon 650s instead.

If you go used, and seriously look you can find a used camdex for around $10k.

Certainly not enough for the hobbyist, but not expensive at all for a commercial piece of equipment.

A camdex can load over 100,000 rounds of ammo per day. Hopefully you have enough money to supply it running.
