BWAHAHAHA, she is still fixated on "The government is the answer to all the problems."
oh yeah..the US is supposed to be a land of opportunity....with opportunities to have decent housing and education...and the possiblility of coming out of the poor and make something of ourselves.....a place where people will want to come..that's what makes us different from the rest of the world...again, it isnt perfect...but I wouldnt want to live anywhere else....

In this, she is exactly right. However, the answer to the problem is NOT more government programs. The answer is to inform the people about which opportunities are available to them.
In most things I have seen, the problem is of ignorance about personal abilities and which program is better. If the people knew about the programs available to them, nobody would be asking the government for anything.
And no, her assertion about "We'd be a third world country" is wrong. The richest 5 percent of the population would carry the load quite well. But the goal is to have everybody contributing to the maximum of their ability and potential.
That just does not happen when nobody has a vested interest in their success. When the instructors don't gain anything but a paycheck by the teaching, where is the incentive? When the students know they will be taken care of regardless of their performance, where is the incentive?
But when person A is being taught by person B to be self sufficient and take bold risks in pursuit of success, and person B stands to gain from person A's subsequent actions, do you think either of them are going to overlook anything? Do you think person B is going to deliberately mislead and harm person A's studies, and therefore, success? This is the nature of capitalism.
This is not a perfect world. This is the world where self interest works to the benefit of all.
None of it involves the government. Government is a nonentity in this equation.
And THAT scares the shit out of liberals, who use the government to do their bidding, and the government itself, who will be out of a job.
Wait, maybe...they should become instructors, or learn under an instructor?
