I sent her this, and I even quoted parts of it in an argument last night:
"Rights vs. Wishes"
http://tampatrib.com/nationworldnews/MGA5R8XDI6D.html

her response:

You dont give up do you????  I didnt totally disagree with you last night, but I also didnt agree with all you said either.....

in an ideal world..yes..these things might work...but unfortunately we dont live like that....if we didnt help those less fortunate than us, we would be a third world country with children starving to death..and have chaos with people stealing even more than they already do, in order to survive....

i dont disagree with Walter Williams  (funny how everything you said to me last night were his words not yours) but it isnt possible...the Bible also says to obey the goverment leaders in authority.  We are lucky enough to be able to vote for our congressional leaders, therefore we do what they vote for.  If your canditate doesnt win, then that is the way it is....so majority rules.  There have to be rules....if you dont like it, go somewhere else....that's what I say....

The US isnt perfect, neither am I, and neither are you, but we have to live together anyway....so for now, that is the way it is...if you dont like it, run for President or Congress  LOL

oh yeah..the US is supposed to be a land of opportunity....with opportunities to have decent housing and education...and the possiblility of coming out of the poor and make something of ourselves.....a place where people will want to come..that's what makes us different from the rest of the world...again, it isnt perfect...but I wouldnt want to live anywhere else....

I respect your opinions, but I dont have to agree with them.  And I am not gonna waste my time and energy debating issues with you.  I am done with this topic

How should I respond??  I was thinking along the lines of the Bible statement and the "obeying govt leaders in authority"....so, how about Hitler???

You should tell her that people are usually poor because they are either stupid or overwhelmingly lazy.

Their conditions generally are the result of a long line of bad decisions.

Oh yeah, don't miss the opportunity to ding her on her awful grammar and mis-punctuation.  There is no excuse for that sort of laziness.

We're called to obey authority, not POWER.  Government has immense power, but ver little (if any) legitimate authority.

Just because they're called "The Authorities" doesn't make them so.

She actually thinks that poor kids are dumb because they cannot get a good education like the richer areas do.  I told her that is BS!!!  They are dumb by CHOICE.  I know many rich people who go to expensive schools and they are DUMB, by choice.  If my kid goes to a better school than the poorer kids, that is okay with me since I spend MORE tax dollars than they do!!!

BWAHAHAHA, she is still fixated on "The government is the answer to all the problems."

Yeah, it is the LAND OF OPPORTUNITY, but it should not be at the TAXPAYERS' expense!!!
ie: welfare & free education

I forgot to mention that she grew up in Kalifornistan.

I grew up there too, but I was not mentally affected by the socialist agenda.

Be wary of the "big government" solution. Yes, we vote for representatives, but exactly when was the last time you got to vote for a bureaucrat? Bureaucrats write laws far more restrictive that the elected representatives intend. Exmaples include BATFs gun rulings and records keeping (forbiden by law). Other things like auto smog laws and 1.5 gallon toilets are written by bureaucrats, not elected representatives. Your representatives will NEVER go against the bureaucrats because they depend on the bureaucrats to implement the rep's pet projects.

To paraphrase a wise person "the government that can give you everything you want, can also take everything you have" (life and liberty)

Most public school teachers are raving liberals.  Probably because many of them are pretty dim.
