What household remedies could you use to stop an injury from bleeding?
|
|
Is this one of those "GD, I cut off my hand shot myself in the back. What do I do now?" threads?
Edited to reflect the post below. |

Probably not going to work. Suppose the injury is round in shape, and in your back? What's a good way to seal something like that up? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Welding torch. I'm only guessing here, but I'm thinking that would make things worse. I thought he meant if HE was bleeding, and I had to stop it. If it's ME, direct pressure or CAT, circumstances depending. |

I keep a field surgical kit in my bag. I've stitched myself up with it on more than one occasion.

|
Rag or paper towel wrapped in duct tape or electrical tape. I've done it before, it does work. I have no idea how to replicate QuikClot using common materials if that's what the question is.

Towels, gauze, paper towels, napkins, tissues, super glue, staples, etc.

Maybe we should just stop changing the bandage and give it a chance to clot up. Sound ok?

CAT to the neck stops all the bleeding
How deep, where is it exactly. Lung puctured? How bad is it bleeding? |

Puncture?
Laceration? Pressure is your best bet, then if it won't stop you're gonna need stitches. |
|
Direct pressure followed by hydrocolloid bandages have saved me from stitches many, many, times.

Flour or corn starch can aid in the clotting.
Modern tampons are not good for bullet holes. They are designed to absorb blood without it clotting. |
|
Ground black pepper.
It is going to hurt, but you knew that.. |

|
Try putting your head in a vise.
If that doesn't work, sprinkle some baby powder in the hallway.
