Do you think Bloomberg would leave America alone if we turned manhattan into THE federal prison and let him be the warden?

I read that a remake is in the works. They ought to change the location of the New York Maximum security prison to Chicago for realism

Great movie and one of the greatest protagonist's name ever!!
Man, I need to watch it again, I've got an old DVD around here somewhere... |

The original anti-Hero. With a nice side of Adrienne Barbeau. 4073 |

best movie ever!
especially love the duke's car escape from los angeles wasn't as good though. |

Kurt Russell, Lee Van Cleef, Ernest Borgnine, Adrienne Barbeau, Isaac Hayes, Harry Dean, Stanton, Donald Pleasance - fantastic cast.
Trivia: The director, John Carpenter, was married to Adrienne at the time. Season Hubley, who played the hot blonde in the Chock Full O' Nuts that was taken by the crazies, was Kurt's wife at the time. |

Kurt said first scene with Van Cleef he instantly started talking like Eastwood, he couldn't help it.
one of my favorites |

Attention. You are now entering the Debarkation Area.
No talking. No smoking. Follow the orange line to the Processing Area. The next scheduled departure to the prison is in two hours. You now have the option to terminate and be cremated on the premises. If you elect this option, notify the Duty Sergeant in your Processing Area. |

Saw it in the movies with Mom, cause I wasn't old enough yet. LOL I don't know if it's been denied but Snake from Metal Gear does seem a lot like Snake Plissken.

Fun fact, at the beginning of Escape from LA Snake is wearing the same costume from NY, after 12 years, it still fit him perfectly and they made no alteration to it.

Romero: You touch me... he dies. If you're not in the air in thirty seconds... he dies. You come back in... he dies.
Romero: [Romero takes a package out of his shirt and unwraps it to reveal the President's middle finger, complete with ring] Twenty seconds. Hauk: I'm ready to talk. Romero: Nineteen. Eighteen. Hauk: What do you want? Romero: Seventeen. Sixteen. |
|
Agreed... it was okay and enjoyable enough, but the original is a dark action film classic so of course it pales in comparison. |

The bio on Ox Baker - gladiator in the ring with Plisskin. Worth a quick scan/read.

Ox would hang out in the parking lot before matches and BS with anyone that wasn't afraid to walk up to him. In the ring he was a monster, outside the ring it was like talking to your cousin. Nice guy and intelligent. But I'd sure hate to have him mad at me. |

I was too young to know it at the time but I was getting a chance to see some real legends go at it. |

Quoted: I read that a remake is in the works. View Quote Not that EFNY is perfect. It's not. However, it's biggest failings, IMO, were simply budgetary. Having a fatter wallet isn't a reason to remake a movie. I think of a writer, or a director, or an actor, saying, "I have an idea for a different take on Snake Plissken." Well then, it's not going to be Snake Plissken, is it? Then I think of a writer, or a director, or an actor, saying, "I'm not going to mess with Snake. We're going to play him just like Kurt Russell did." Well then, why bother?

I have the novelization of it. Some fun backstory there. Snake lost his eye when one of his goggles cracked and the poison gas killed it. While in the processing center, they stuck him in the Castration Room to think it all over. They had a metal box that they placed over your groin and wham, no more balls. They did this to inmates before turning them loose inside.
It was a great film and concept, and very dark and gritty for its time. |
