I did.  I voted for a Democrat, because the Republican running against him is very anti-gun.  The Republican even bragged about the size of his contribution to HCI.  Republican or not, he was not getting my vote.z

Ok, I did.
Our  states Republican is involved in state farm backing out of Texas. So I voted for a Mexican with ties to a drug trafficker.
I figure housing insurance was more important to me than the drugs. So I didn't take into consideration the whole picture.
Sue me.

Crossed over for one democrat - county sheriff. He's pretty much a republican but running as a democrat in this county is the only way to win. Plus he seems very competent, professional, and the public employee unions hate him, which is just icing on the cake.

i was going to vote for a demo for gov, A+ rating.. till i was reminded hes trying to prevent work from being brought in and costing someone their job. so i voted for the republican who was rated A by NRA

I did, but just for kicks, he was running unopposed for coroner's office, and I figured, what the hell? Who better for the job?

Well I sure as hell did.  As if the Republicans are our real saviors?  Gimme a break.  I vote for whomever I feel is the best candidate regardless of party.

I voted for a Democrat for state house.  Because his opponent claimed the Democrat lied about his past military service as a marine.

The local newspaper found that the Democrat had indeed served in the USMC, and the Republican incumbent wouldn't comment or apologize.  So screw him.

Everyone else was Republican.  The governor's race might be tight, but in everything else Republicans are going to stomp the Democrats anyway.  It's like Massachusetts in reverse here.

Just one.  He was an NRA A, while the Repub was an NRA F.  Easy choice (insurance commissioner, KS).

Well LWilde, I'm sure you are not assuming that I am resposible for the anti-gun atmosphere here.  And I'm sure you're not assuming that there are only liberals who live here.  And for sure you're not assuming that all Republicans are pro gun in California, right?  That would be, uh..silly.  After all it's only the red neck yahoos who can't spell that believe that all Replublican politicians are looking out for the greater good of we the people.

I saw nothing in thumholes post that said he voted for those he felt would take away the most liberties.

but there was a spot on the ballot asking to vote for 2 people and there were only two choices and they both were endorsed by the rep, dem, conservative, liberal and independence parties. I selected them using the conservative row to thumb my nose at both major parties

Secondly, I agree with your insinuation about Republicans and guns in California.  There are many GOP wannabees out there who can't tell an anti-gun liberal from a true Republican.  I suspect they are too interested in really important things...like legalizing dope.  So...no argument there.  However, it is the Dems that are the real danger to our country at a national level and it is the Dems that WILL take away your guns, given the chance.

Finally, I take great exception to being referred to as a, "red-neck yahoo".  I am NOT a yahoo, although I like to see myself as somewhat of a pink-neck (NOT pinko!).  What I AM is a pedantic, overbearing, in-your-face, know-it-all, retired naval officer and political junkie.  I also happen to be a conservative Republican who, for decades, was a registered Democrat.

Now...just to enlighten you a bit further...until six years ago, Miz LWilde and I called your fine state home.  We were both born and raised there.  During my 28 years in the Navy, I spent many years stationed in Long Beach, San Diego and Port Hueneme.  We now live in Conservative Bliss in rural Virginia.

Finally, I restate my assertion:  IF you vote for Democrats, in almost all cases, you are voting against the Second Amendment.  It is the liberal Dems that control your party, it is the liberal Dems that wish to take away your firearms.

Sure I did!  Check the NRA-ILA site.  There are several democrats that have better pro-gun records than republicans.

As me a different question:  "Did you vote for any candidates with a C or lower NRA rating?"

The answer to that question is far more relevant.  The answer is hell no.

I am from Massachusetts, so it is a given that most candidates here, esp. in unopposed races, are Demokrats. Even the Repubs up here are basically Demokrats (well, most of them). I have always voted for mostly Demokrats, until today. NOT A SINGLE DEM GOT MY VOTE!! Instead, I voted for almost all Libertarians, and one Republican (state treasurer). If the candiaite for a given seat or office was Dem. and unopposed, I left it blank.

I can see why some people think voting is a waste of time. MA is living proof that most voters are brain-dead.

Still, it's nice to finally be a grownup, and vote my conscience, instead of voting the lesser of two evils.

Screw the rest of 'em- the taxes and gridlock up here are getting so bad, that the Libertarian-sponsored ballot question (referendum) on abolishing the MA state income tax has at least 40% support- not enough to win this time, but, even in liberal MA, enough people are getting so disgusted with the Demopublican vote-buying/tax-and-spend machine, that things might change.

Luckily for me all those with decent/good scores concerning firearms were Republicans.

I voted for a Democrat for sheriff. I know him he is a good guy, was a cop.
His opponent is a republican that stopped running for County Executive do to fear of a scandal. I know about the scandal, because I took them to federal court and won.

i would admit to voting dem. if i had, but i voted rep. across the board.  but i didn't vote for party, i voted on issues.  and it turned out everyone i voted for was republican.

I was very happy to vote for our incumbent Gov, Don Siegleman here in AL.  One of the first things he did upon taking office was to exponge the waiting period on handguns, he enabled CCW reciprocity with multitudes of states recently, and he penned some new range protection laws.  As far as I can see, his 2nd ammdmt. record is stellar.  Plus, he has helped to bring lots of Auto industry to AL, and he wants a lottery here, as do I.  The rest of my votes, however, were Repubs, Libertarians or the write-in of "anybody but you".

One Demo, some Judge court position.  He was best qualified and will be pro death penelity if  individuals are convicted.

One Lib, best qualified on position, a minor one in the system.

I gave them a fair shake against the Republicans.  Did not vote for unknown positions.  Left them blank.



By the way, Drugs vs Home insurance (gov of TX)  Two sorry bums, voted for the better of the idiots. Repub for 4 more years....

I wouldn't vote for a democrat if they were my best friend, I also don't vote for republicans unless I like their views.

Libertarians ran in enough races for me to vote in, otherwise theres that 'write-in' box that I use quite often.

/edit (so I don't get too many flames), you have to understand that democrats in the northeast are quite different then some of their 'true-blue' counterparts.

Republican across the board. I'll never vote for another Democrat again as long as I live. There are no real democrats left, they're all Socialists. If at some time in the future some third party candidate reflects my views and actually has a chance in He** of winning, then I might opt for them instead of a Republican. I won't waste my vote on third party candidates who have no substantial voter base. I've realized what voting for Perot got me.

Republicans may at times conveniently forget or ignore the U.S.Constitution, but at least they don't think the U.S. Constitution is for wiping there ass with like the Dems.
