OP, we retired military people are not far behind.   They will take our TRICARE health insurance within the the next two or three years and force us into OBAMACARE.

Is anyone on this board so naive that they don't think the plan is to force EVERYONE into OBAMACARE before the marxist-socialist motherfuckers are done?

It sucks, but it's also predictable.  Getting employers involved in paying for health care was a lousy idea... and lousy ideas usually have painful consequences.

The shittiest part is that the pain isn't going to hurt the one's most responsible for the bad decisions.

Good news in disguise.   The healthcare system is broken.    Cost of care is triple what it should cost in free market.      You can buy the same surgery in Europe for 1/3 the cost here.   Out of pocket Americans are flying there to buy treatment.

Once we get majority of Americans on one public payer system we can dictate those doctors, hospitals, HMOs and layers on prices.      IBM just fired the first shot.   Every corporation in America will do the same.

I worked two years for IBM.  They're always looking for a way to screw over their workers/retirees. The latest one I heard was they changed the 401k contribution to once a year so they could lay people off before hand and not have to contribute to their 401k for the year.  They stopped releasing their percentage of US/Offshore works since it shows their steady march to push everything offshore.   They have a practice call "laser layoffs" where each year they lay people off in each state just lower than the state notification numbers so it doesn't get press.  Obama care sucks, but don't be deceived that IBM is a good company.

Great because I bet most of them voted for the f'er.

Wait until you see the effect of the subsidies which are a MASSIVE back-end welfare program.

People on the exchanges can get their healthcare subsidized by the taxpayers when they make up to 400% of the Federal Poverty level income (almost $90,000).  Some of these tax credits will run (for a family of 4) up to $12,000.  Oh yeah get this also....at the end of the year those taxpayers will compare their actual income to the subsidies that they should have received on their income levels.  Should they have been overpaid, they will owe it back to the goverment---except those who are <400% of the FPL.  Their recapture is limited.  FSA.

On top of the tax credit, those same taxpayers who are up to 250% of the FPL will receive limitations of their out of pocket costs.  Their out of pocket costs based on their % of the FPL will be artificially low to the point of being overtly ridiculous.

This is one giant cluster folks.

Pretty much.  A couple years back I cashed out just about everything I had and bought pretty much the closest thing to a recession-proof business in existence.  It's not physically demanding... I can run this store when I'm 80 if I have to (I sure as hell don't want to), and it's stocked full of tangible, portable goods for which there's always going to be a demand.

Honestly, I was just at the right place at the right time... but I sure do look smart now.

That would be awesome.  Shopping around for a Doc that takes cash and hates the regime would be a good idea too.

At some point I'm sure they'll try to outlaw everything but public medicine but the above tactics might buy us another 5 years.

I had a friend with 35 year of service. This guy was a real company man. His boss walked in one day, told him he had 15 minutes to get his stuff together and they escorted him out. He wasn't the only one. Just a business decision but it sure did suck

Yep.  The only reason for the delays and exceptions is election pandering.  The best thing that could happen for 2014 and 16 is as many people as possible getting fucked by Obamacare, and then firmly linking the Democratic party to the pain those people are feeling.

Moron:   We already have a public health system.  All the public employees, those working for corporate leeches, those on welfare are all paid for by the gov't.  Gov't money has driven care cost to triple those in Europe.       Who is left uninsured, or paying huge sums out of pocket are the true private sector, workers, entrepreneurs at small businesses.          Obamacare will do at least one thing right.   Dictate prices to those hospitals, HMOs so they can't have their $20 million executive bonus  .

How is it going to be a windfall for big business when the standard of living for the average American working or middle class person has been reduced, and they are therefore not able to purchase as many
goods or services from said big businesses as they formerly did?

Internatiionally, I don't know, maybe.

In terms of the domestic economy, decreasing the purchasing power (and reducing the standard of living) for the average American is NOT a "windfall for big business."

More value to shareholders if they spend less on employee benefits, they have more profit. In a global economy nobody in business worries about middle class buying power, that stopped a long time ago. If somebody in the middle class wants more buying power, they need to improve their job status and make more money, you hear it in GD all the time. No different than pensions.
