I assume 50  or so for the disks and 25 for the pads.  Maybe a couple hours of my time.  So?

If you have:

1. a good sized C- clamp

2. a piece of wood about the length of you hand
(I use a thick piece of floor molding)

3. a socket set with a few torx head bits or Allen heads.
(for some reason GM loves torx)

4. a floor jack

5. about an hour to kill.

you can change the pads and rotors on just about any vehicle .

I did it for the first time about a month ago on another vehicle.
Its WAY easier than you think.

If you can disassemble/assemble an AR-15 you can change disk brakes.

[red]save your self about 80% and do it your self.
dealers/mechanics make a killing from brake jobs[/red]

edited to add:
I have 45k on my 99 silverado still on the original brakes.
Just had the 50k service checkup done, everything ok and plenty of life left on the pads. Whoo hoo!!

Wait for Chilton to put out a book....read up on it.

Disc brakes are disc brakes.  There is only so much an engineer can do differently.

Rear disc brakes are very simple to do, even simpler than the front ones are.

Did someone get taken to the cleaners?? [sex]
