I don't know why people even risk drinking and driving anymore.....
Cost is 10k minimum for a DUI........I guess people have too much money. |

Cops need overtime.
It's for the children. Move along citizen..oh wait...once we decide you can. And all with taxpayer money. I sometime wonder if our "public servants" are not the most visible part of the FSA! |

They are going to be doing one at the top of my street on Fri, I would always sit with the neighbor on my front porch and drink beer watching all the cars drive down to avoid it but get pulled over anyway.

I use to run check points back in 08 + 09. My department called it a
"Road safety check point". I thought it was a waste of time, but for some Reason stolen autos would go down during that time. We mostly checked inspection stickers or other safety violations. Rarely did it for DUI, but we came across A few. If no noticeable violations we picked one out of three or five drivers. We had To keep a count and stats on the operation. I had to submit a lengthy report at the end of the operation. PC is not needed. The Supreme Court upheld this type of police operation. All my reports went to the county attorney for review. |

It's not about DUI. It's about Big Brother flexing his muscles against the subject class.

Only time in my life I ever saw the state police running a DUI checkpoint was on a Thursday.
Struck me as weird because I would have thought they would target Friday and Saturday nights. |

Your first mistake was thinking this had anything to do with driving while intoxicated. Yeah, well, it was in a weird spot too - a lonely stretch of highway that did not see a lot of traffic late at night (it was around 10:30 when I rolled up on this thing). Drugs? Stolen cars? Expired registration tags? Safety check (as another reply noted)? All or none of the above? I'm thinking if they just wanted to flex their muscle and intimidate the serfs, they could have accomplished that a lot better on a busier highway. |

Business men and women coming home from having a few drinks during happy hour with their coworkers after the end of a Thursday, winding down for the week. Must disrupt the entire area to reel in a few of those dirtbags. |
