Pants: Twill vs Duck vs Canvas vs Khaki vs Ripstop

Time for some new pants and there are loads of different fabric types available.

Mainly looking at Carhartt, Wrangler, etc.

What are the differences between Twill, Duck, Canvas, Khaki, and Ripstop?

Any cons to each of them?

Is one tougher then the other and lasts longer?

Which wears the best?

Any better over the others for CCW?

I have some carhartt overalls I got last year that are uninsulated and they are pretty dang tuff.  I have worn them in briar and rose thickets and didn't notice a thing, I have been happy with them.  I would be willing to bet that another company makes the equivalent of the carhartt canvas or duck overalls and they don't cost as much.
