An NYPD highway cop is expected to be charged for allegedly wining and dining a Bronx woman he arrested for drunken driving, the Daily News has learned.
Officer Carlos Becker was stripped of his badge and gun last month and is facing criminal charges for the alleged misconduct, according to two sources familiar with the case. View Quote |

Need to see before pics to determine guilt and whether his career was worth it.

He needs to take her back over to Battery Park and turn her in the the M.I.B there for deportation to her home planet.

So, will he really be fired and / or convicted of anything? I say 50/50 chance of both. The word "empowerment" was mentioned. They'll (rightfully) smoke his ass to protect department image. |

I get the "fire him and take his badge and gun away" part for fraternizing with a suspect he arrested ... but what would he be charged with criminally?
Is that just for donkey punching her in the eye when she wouldn't put out, or is there some other crime involved here? |

I mean, if he was a good clean man, he wouldn't have fallen for the setup, right? Good for the goose, and all that... |

He SHOULD be stripped of badge and gun forever, cannot work for any other LE agency anywhere. Criminal charges ? Only if he punched her.

Noonan turned over to investigators more than 600 text messages she exchanged with Becker beginning March 14 — three days after he busted her for DWI.
In the series of personal messages, the lovesick officer asked her out on dates, offered to cook her dinner, ran a computer check on her driver’s license and claimed he had ordered a mini-police shield for her to carry in her wallet. Forgot to delete the 600 messages. |

I would imagine all cops know that text messages can be obtained. This guy had to have known he was playing with fire. I'm guessing he just thought the lady was too dumb to report him.

Only other possible crime I see here is if he overstepped his legitimate access to her criminal/traffic database history to be nosy, beyond the scope of his legitimate need for the DUI arrest. |

She went out with him on her own in hopes of getting her citation dismissed. He did not force her to do anything. |
