Surgery was for intra and extraosseous ganglion of lateral femoral condyle.

Yes. They shaved part of my leg.

The orange skin is not from a spray tan, it's from the surgical skin prep.

The mark above my patella is where the surgeon put his initial.

Finding that my lower leg was no longer attached would have been somewhat of a surprise.

All I got from your post is that you shave your legs.

Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Had a ganglion cyst (the one that folks usually have on their wrist) on the lateral knee.

Part of the cyst had protruded into the lower portion of the thigh bone at the knee.

Is that from wear & tear or from a broken leg? I did two of those, Two syn lube treatments and then went full knee replacement.

Don't know what it's from. No broken bone.

Had the same knee scoped 20 years ago for knee plica syndrome.

Ortho doesn't think it's related.

Have a follow up appointment on Thursday where he'll show me some pics--hope he'll let me bring a couple home.

I have a ganglion cyst on the lateral side of my knee that lies under my IT band and irritates it, causing a lot of pain.  My surgeon tells me that it will require an open surgery to remove.

Was your surgery open or scoped?  I can't tell by looking at the bandages.  How is your recovery going?

It was scoped.

He said before he went in that he may have to make an incision laterally. Thankfully he did not.

Had follow up with surgeon today.

Image during the procedure:

Circled is the ganglion cyst in the knee joint space.

I asked him how many of these he has seen before: "None."

Dam, had one removed from my wrist. Don't want to think about one between the joints of your knee. Bet it was a big relief to have it removed.
