I came this close to deploying with the 10TH mountain division in 1991 but instead my unit chose a broke dick E5 with kids to take my place over a single soldier..

Our company's senior drill sergeant in BCT @ Benning was a ranger from black hawk down. SFC Barton. You could see him as a young kid inside the book jacket. He was a hard man.

Thanks for that link. Jeff Struecker was my Chaplain when I was in the 82nd. Great guy. All the platoons tried to avoid him in the morning when they stepped out on Ardennes, because he liked to find a group to run with (lead) and he was FAST. |

I remember standing in PAC the next day with 50 other soldiers, all trying to put in transfers so we could go get some revenge.
All to be told we were pulling out.

Very impressive and it is interesting to go back to somewhere that became pivotal in your life. I was in Desert Storm 2ndMARDIV and go to go back into Kuwait with USA/NG and cruise where we were years before. Some major changes, but in other areas no change at all.
