My wife and I don't want to get into the finger pointing, name calling and threats.
We do want to know who is still going to the BRC? Between the pre-registration and the Ice House and having to already plan to take time off to attend, we have really gone all out. Please tell us who is still going to go so we can decide if we need to start trying to get our money back and/or make alternate arrangments. Edit--'all out' means this is going to be THE vacation for 2003 if we still go. |
|
My wife has her vacation scheduled for then, and had to fight to get it, so she has informed me we are going, even if there isn't one. We may just be wandering around the grounds by ourselves, but we will be there. It was absolutely the time of our lives last year. The event was unmatched by anything else we have ever experienced, thanks to the people of ARFCOM. I hope it will be the same next June. Being able to meet the people who post here is an unbelievable experience. Total strangers are like old friends in two minutes. We are looking forward to it.

I'll still go. I truly hope that most of the members here would go, regardless of if AR15.com is a sponsor or not. I would also hope to see the Avilas there, along with DonR and all the others who are a major part of this site--even if they are not sponsors, they would undoubtedly be welcome as honored guests (and, maybe they wouldn't have to work so hard if they are unofficial this coming year). This is the most frequented place on the Internet for me (hell, I'd probably be here all the time if they had a google type search and a nudie archive [:D] ), but I like getting together with anyone to shoot, regardless of who is sponsoring the event.
I still intend on skipping graduation to make the BRC. And, I'll bring my meager collection so other people will have something to shoot if they come without their own stuff. As to the Texas gathering--if there is ANY possible way I can swing it, you better believe I will be there also. I'll be in the middle of a residency, but maybe I can sneak away and call it a "continuing education" event--maybe Ed, Sr. can lecture on surgical path for me? AFARR |

Still planning on it and looking forward to it...so's the wife!

cant can only afford one big trip and i plan to spend alot of money at anime expo.

Its still too early to tell. I will try to make it, but I'll have to see how my finances go.
|

Please limit comments to who WILL be attending, or who hopes to attend, but cannot commit at this early date. No one cares who cannot attend, and especially those who do not wish to attend, for whatever reason. Thanks for your cooperation and respect shown for this Member's sincere question. [:)]

I will be at the BRC!
Msmedcop and I have already made plans and look forward to the lodge room! No way would I miss the BRC! medcop |
|
I'll be there with my (by then) wife, so long as there will be a BRC to go to. I'll be enjoying the Cav lower that I bought at the last convention... then in '04, I'll be enjoying the stuff from this convention... it'll be a big vicious cycle [:D]

View Quote hmmm, i wonder, after reading this post, why there would EVER be division here? [rolleyes] View Quote I cannot go to the Indy 1500 gun show tomorrow as I am meeting my brother about 450 miles in the opposite direction. Do you care? Sean Hannity spoke and autographed his book in the town where I live last Saturday, but I was out of town, so could not attend. Do you care? This morning, there was a funeral service for a man who has been a client of mine for 15 years. I attended his visitation last night, but my Manager refused to allow me to miss our weekly meeting this morning, so I had to miss the funeral. Do you care? My wife's family is meeting at her sister's new home, but it is too far from my family's location to be able to make both. We cannot spend Christmas day with her family. Do you care? Are you starting to get my point? The point of this thread is to determine who can, or hopes to, attend the BRC. Various smart-ass comments about not attending are superfluous and not productive. Thank you for resisting the urge to post them. |

AeroE and daughters will be there.
Daughter number one needs to win a bigger rifle next year, she's outgrowing the Chipmunk. And of course, she will want to take more trail rides. I want to shoot Heartland's Sporting Clays course and see all of the other AR15.com'ers that will be there. |
|
Bulldozer and kids will be there. Already working hard to make the BRC'03 bigger and better than '02. Ranges under construction
will great fun and close to the food, vendors and the lodge. Hope that the boys in Texas have fun too.Good luck with the time of year, weather and attendance.I have to wonder about the possible dates as far as the possible number of people that will be able to attend. If you know what I mean,if you don't,I'm sorry you can't see it. |

I'll be there and I'll think I'll bring the family,
Bubba and Guido need to get out more. |

The stars at night, are big and bright.......DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS !!!

I'm going, It's only a few hour drive, and I'm already paid up. don't know where to stay yet. if someone has reservations and doesn't go I'll take there lodge spot. just let me know.

Depending upon the construction schedule and all for our rehab project, in 2003 Tweet and I plan to attend:
1. Knob Creek (at least one of them) 2. BRC (already have the nicest room in the Icehouse) 3. Bulletfest (already have my old campground spot staked out so Ed Sr. can easily fall in the river after drinking with us again) 4. the new TX shoot 5. Kentuckiana II (if Bob has one) Bulletfest and KCR are the easiest for us since we are within a couple hours of each. BRC takes some planning but it's still only a couple of vaca days for me. Any TX shoot requires significant planning on our part to get to. This means I need to know well in advance of the dates (at least 3 to 4 months) Of course if things aren't going well with our rehab project over any of the shoot dates, all bets will be off. Having a place to live in tends to take some priority. [:D] |
|
There will always be the positive and negative responses and they should not divide anything or anyone.
There are a ton of shoots that are organized all the time and people do not get into arguments or offended with "can" and "can't" make it comments. The BRC is another shoot to choose to attend or not, let's act like adults and accept changes and differences of opinion. My family was planning on attending, but I think it best for everyone if we miss this one. Have fun and drink a few for me! |
|
I'll be their with Tam. Also let us know if a Lodge room becomes available.
|
|
We plan on coming. We'll be bringing the kids again and probably pitching a tent.
|

I've been working a lot lately and must've missed the 'ain't no BRC' thread...
(my screen saver has been the BRC 2003 logo for a while in hopes of me getting to go & I've got a special folder on my desktop for the info) Can someone please tell me the short version of this story? Thank you. |
|
I'm certain that we will be skipping it and going straight to Texas. (I get to bunk in DonR's outhouse! [:D]) |

I know me posting this may be wrong.....but it appears this is turning into an us vs. them or maybe a Texas vs. BRC thread.
The original topic was who is going to the BRC...not who is going to TX instead of the BRC. I know this has been an issue for the past couple of days.... but people....don't let this divide us! medcop |

What the hell is going on in this thread??
Maybe I should shut my mouth because I'm not going, though I hope to make it to some in the future, but whats with all the gloom on this thread? Everyone sounds disgusted with the BRC. Did I miss something? Does this have to with the events that have taken place this year espesically the last few weeks? Did something happen at the shot last year that makes you all down? |
|
Despite the obvious political divisions some are expressing, (and ignoring it all,) my son and I are still planning to be in attendance. It was a great time, with good people, in an ideal location. I wish Castle Arms the very best in their efforts to continue this endeavor. Would like to go to texas, too, but if you've seen one cactus, you've seen 'em all. Black Rifle Convention still lives! We would like to go to Texas, too, but we ain't gonna drive from Mid Michigan to Mid Texas and I now so strongly dislike airline travel w/o my guns, I can't even think what flying with four cool ones and a few k rounds would lead to.
|
|
BRC was pretty good last year, so if it anything like that this year then we are going, I am just asking on this thread to see who is still going so we can decide what to do.

What's this 'BRC vs Texas Shoot Out'?
The real likely loser in this little turn of events will be the Hun Farm OktoberBlast! Texas is mighty big and wide, but it can't support two world class shooting events in the same month! [:D] So, what can the Hun do? Hmmm? Eric The(Thinking,Thinking)Hun[>]:)] |

Lumpy, we'll fly out there special for you. Remember that part of your membership is active still. [=P]
This is NOT a X versus Y issue. The BRC is a shoot in IL, the Texas gathering will be a shoot sponsored, organized, and run by the site. I can't continue to post in these threads without making it a "controversy", so I will start a Texas shoot thread where we can discuss our goals. Everyone needs to keep in mind that the Texas shoot was originally to be held this fall, but we felt it too short notice to do all the things we wanted. This was to be the "BRC SOUTH," but obvious events had forced us from that option. People going to the BRC, have fun and enjoy it, I'll miss seeing you there and hope many of you can come down and spend a weekend with us in Texas. |
|
Will be going to ALL of them since I will be FREE FREE FREE form FDNY.
BRC, Texas,Knob Creek,Perry and where ever else I could find and have money for. |

I'd go, except that I'm too far away [:(]. We need to put together a Ohio shootfest.

I wont say too much about the plans, but expect this year's shoot to be bigger, better, and an instant CAMPY CLASSIC! Definitely a DO NOT MISS event for those of us in the NorthEast!!! |

BTT--
still waiting to hear from the 'end of the field' gang from the 1st BRC. |
|
I plan on going pending it does not end up being a wash on vendor shows. By the sounds of it DPMS, abd Bushmaster said that they were going to be there.. Atleast that is what I have been told. At this point count me in.

I wasn't able to go last year's BRC because i was out of town, but my dad went and he said the BRC was great. I'm hoping to get leave from USAFA during that time so i can actually go this year. My best friend at West Point is also hoping to make it back in time for the BRC. I don't really know what's going on with AR15.com and castle arms, but it sounds like all of the sudden people are becoming stupid and are taking sides. You people need to realize it's not about two different companies, but about the love for guns.

The Convention is based around all Black (military firearms) Rifles & the TX shoot around this discussion forum. Sigh,
I can only afford one. I wish I could go to both as there will be sooooo many cool people at both. Unfortunately I do not believe I'll make the BRC. It was good meeting you there last time happyshooter [not that you'd remember someone as enigmatic as me].[:D] Maybe the next one! |
