Got this done yesterday and its the first time I've been told to dry heal a tattoo. Said he didn't go to deep and to let it heal from the inside out, not to put any cream or vitamin on it. Day 1 starting to scab up. Day 1...

Jergens Ultra Healing moisturizer. Ive been using this for years and havent had any issues with my "ink"

I would not let it "dry" heal.

I've never heard any tattoo artist recommend a dry heal. I'd put someting on that. I've used A+D Ointment on my last 5 or so and would use it again

Good shading and nice colors. If you want them to look good in six months get some A&D or Eucerin on that thing.

Thin layer of ointment (A&D, bacitracin) - should be in the skin, not on the skin...

I've never had any artist tell me or friends/family to dry heal

I have heard good things about the Jergens Ultra..I myself have always used Aquaphor Healing...good stuff.

Use Tattoo specific creams/ ointments do not use shit for cuts.

I've always used Dermassage lotion but Jergens put out a great moisturizing product.

Dry heal... Out of the question.!!!! I have a lion on my arm and had it get a little dry and a price of scab

broke off between his eyes. There has been a white spot there ever since!

Dry heal bad. But slathering it with stuff equally bad. You want the wound to be able to breathe, but not dry out. Use some sort of moisturizer, rub it in good.

and if he didn't go deep, then the color will wash out and the tattoo will fade away. I have seen tattoos that vanished within 3 months because of a "light hand"

I usually let mine dry heal the first couple of days until it starts to scab. When it starts to scab, I then put a very thin layer of Aquaphor on it.

I would never let it dry heal all the way through. They tend to crack open and bleed if you do, and will result in scarring in your tattoo.

He "didn't go too deep"? WTF is that supposed to even mean? Granted, I only have a couple tattoos, but if an artist said "Hey, don't worry, I didn't go too deep" I'd be a bit concerned that the guy didn't know what he was doing.

Aquaphor for about the first 2-3 days then I go to unscented lubriderm. I'm sure you know but DO NOT PICK THE SCABS. Also the didn't go too dip thing doesn't sound right. You don't want them to go to deep or you'll get blown out lines but too shallow can be really bad too.

+1 on the Eucerin. Aquaphor is good for the first couple of days after that Eucerin. No perfumes or any of the other stuff that tends to have reactions. I have heard of more people suggesting dry healing lately. After two full sleeves and half my chest done and counting,I would never dry heal.

Me either. Put a light coat of cheap store brand Bacitracin on it. Aquaphor works good too but even the store brand is more expensive than Bacitracin.

for tats on limbs (arms legs) i cut the end off a sock. and use it as a sleeve... and lather up the area with a healing moisturizer and then cover it up with the sleeve for a few hours a day.. works great.

You shouldn't be putting on so much that your "lathering it up". You also shouldn't be covering it with a tight garment like a cut off sock.

that was my first thought, even before the "dry heal" i was WTF?

ive got 8 tatts, and the wifes got 4, we've bothe always done the same thing. A&D for the first 2 days, then lotion untill fully healed
